Dhi Qar Province (Arabic: ذي قار, romanised: Dhī Qār) is a province in southern Iraq. The provincial capital is Nasiriyah. Prior to 1976 the province was kept as Muntafiq Province. Dhi Qar wis the hertland o the auncient Iraqi ceevilization o Sumer an the ruins o Ur, Eridu, Lagash an Girsu are present here.
Dhi Qar province includes the touns o al-Rifai, Qalat Sukkar, Ash Shatrah, al-Gharraf, Suq al-Shuyouk, Khamisiyah an al-Chibayish
Accordin tae Ron Suskind, in the mid 1990s the govrenor wis Tahir Jalil Habbush al-Tikriti, who later became polis chief o the kintra, an in 1999, director o the Iraqi Intelligence Service.[1]
An Nasiriyah witnessed some o the hiviest fechtin an some o the stiffest resistance against invadin U.S. forces in 2003.
