The mayor o the Atabapo Municipality is Nelsón Cayupare, electit on 31 October 2004 wi 38% o the vote.[5] He replaced Nepomuceno Patiño shortly after the elections.[6] The municipality is dividit intae three pairishes; Ucata, Yapacana, an Caname (previous tae 18 Dizember 1997, the Atabapo Municipality conteened anerly a single pairish).[2]
