The winner o the title wis defendin champion and warld nummer ane Mark Selby, who defeatit John Higgins 18–15 in the feenal despite haein fallen 4–10 behind in the seicont session o the match. Selby defeatit Ding Junhui 17–15 in the semi-feenals, whilst Higgins defeatit Barry Hawkins 17–8 tae reach the feenal. This wis Selby's third Warld Championship win; he haed an aw won the title in the 2014 and 2016 tournaments.
The tot prize fund for the championship wis £1,750,000, wi the winner receivin the tap prize o £375,000. Thare war 74 century braks i the main stage o the championship, wi a faur 84 in qualifyin. Englishman Ronnie O'Sullivan compiled a break o 146 in the quarter-feenals, the heichest brak o the toornament. Gary Wilson scored a maximum brak o 147 in qualifyin durin his first roond win ower Josh Boileau. The toornament wis broadcast in Europe bi the BBC and Eurosport, an internationally bi Warld Snooker on Facebook.
