Yakuza Apocalypse (極道大戦争, Gokudō Daisensō) is a Japanese action fantasy yakuza vampire film directed by Takashi Miike[3][4] and written by Yoshitaka Yamaguchi. It was released on 20 June 2015.
Production started on 17 April 2014.
Yakuza Apocalypse premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2015 before being commercially released in Japan on 20 June 2015.
The film received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 58% rating, based on 31 reviews, with an average rating of 5.8/10. The site's consensus states: "Yakuza Apocalypse lives up to the oddball promise of its title with a cinematic whirlwind that represents director Takashi Miike at his most delightfully unhinged."[5] Metacritic reports a 62 out of 100 rating, based on 14 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[6]
