Overview[edit]

The project coordinators are responsible for maintaining the procedural and administrative aspects of the project. They are the designated points of contact for procedural issues and are responsible for ensuring that the project as a whole is properly informed of them.

To provide some examples of coordinator duties: the coordinators manage the proposal and creation of new task forces; ensure that project announcement and task lists are kept up-to-date; initiate drafting of guidelines needed by the project; organize the category system; oversee the recruitment of new members, including the use of project notices and other advertising methods; create and maintain collaborative projects if any; maintain the project page and the various guidelines in it in a clean and easy-to-use state; monitor technical policies and ensure that project templates satisfy them; and assist in organizing and promoting any Backlog Elimination Drives.

They are also expected to generally assist project members with any questions or concerns.

The coordinator positions do not entail any executive power.

Torchiest[edit]

Torchiest (talk · contribs) • Interested in lead position.

Hi there. Most everyone should know me by now. I've been an assistant coordinator a total of nine months in two different stints, one of which is of course wrapping up soon. I know my way around the place, and feel like I've got plenty enough experience to take over for the retiring Stfg at this point. During my time as assistant coordinator, I initiated the Copy Edit of the Month Contest and Blitzes, and have more ideas for new programs and modifications for existing ones. I hope to keep generating incentives for everyone if selected for lead coordinator.

Support[edit]

BDD[edit]

BDD (talk · contribs) • Interested in assistant position only.

Hi all. I've been a GOCE member since May. As an English major with some OCD tendencies, copy editing comes very naturally to me; I joined the Guild as soon as I learned of it, and over the last six months, I've participated in the backlog drives and have started mentoring other users. I'd be happy to help with administrative tasks to keep things running smoothly, such as new initiatives and drive coordination and reviewing. I'll also make a little campaign promise and pledge to dole out barnstars quicker.

Support[edit]

  1. But of course. —Torchiest talkedits 00:16, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Miniapolis[edit]

Miniapolis (talk · contribs) • Interested in assistant position only.

Hi! I discovered the GOCE shortly after becoming an active editor in late 2010, and it was the niche I'd been looking for. I've participated in every backlog-reduction drive since January 2011 (I think), have done a bit of mentoring, started helping out on the Requests page and don't mind pitching in on the administrative side as needed. If selected, I promise to do my best to help keep the project at its current (high) level.

Support[edit]

  1. Definitely. —Torchiest talkedits 00:16, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Certainly. Miniapolis is a very high-quality copy editor who is always to be found high up the leaderboard on the drives, and who provides mentoring to new copy editors. Excellent candidate. --Stfg (talk) 00:50, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to appoint Stfg as a Coordinator Emeritus[edit]

Stfg has served as the de facto lead GOCE coordinator for the better part of 2012, taking up lots of slack when the Guild lost coordinators early in the year. He has been a dedicated member of the Guild for a long time, going above and beyond to help anyone with questions or concerns. The other current GOCE coordinator, Torchiest, proposes that Stfg be appointed Coordinator Emeritus for as long as he wishes to continue in the role. The appointment would be in addition to the coordinators selected in this election. Please Support, Oppose or Comment below.
