Suspected sockpuppets
Evidence submitted by Webhat
Comments with all the above mentioned accounts, including multiple edits of the same discussion with accounts. Tastes like Wikipedia:Sock Puppetry. Webhat (talk) 08:33, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See Defending yourself against claims.
No edits link to the two older names because they are all automatically changed to reflect the new name with a name change. There are links to the older names, though, as the name change does not change entries on talk pages, AfDs and such. Anyone who would like to go through and update my older entries is more than welcome to do so. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:55, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk, patrolling admin and checkuser comments
Is there any more evidence? I see no sockpuppetry as those usernames were his previous when he was renamed; renamed twice in fact. --Bsadowski1 08:41, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Clerk declined - No CheckUser is needed for this at all since there is no sockpuppetry. Bsadowski1 08:44, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Closing this case as I also see no evidence of sockpuppetry here. Both accounts are the results of namechanges and don't have any edits to them. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 13:38, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- 2 accounts created in 2006 and an account from 2008 with comments attributed to all accounts yet no edits in 2 of the accounts. In the best case this is a case of missrepresentation. I present the evidence viewing the comments made which I found using: Special:WhatLinksHere/User:Mdbrownmsw and Special:WhatLinksHere/User:Mdsummermsw. A sock puppet is not just multiple accounts for making edits to encyclopaedia articles, but also in Talk pages. The user in question is using the account created in 2006 rather than the so called name change new user account in 2008, yet is using different account names while commenting, I see no evidence presented here that supports only a name change. The user is using the old account from 2006 and has never even used the new account from 2008. How is that a name change? Webhat (talk) 09:49, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Thirded. This is by no means abuse of multiple accounts. When you get a name change, the links in your signature do not change. So of course the Special:WhatLinksHere will show results. The links above do not show any abuse either. It's clearly indicated that those accounts are SummerPhD's by the renaming logs and the redirects made by bureaucrats. Only SummerPhD has edits because the history of the accounts have been moved and two, they have zero edits because the edit history of the accounts has been moved. - Hey Elockid, I hope Webhat will come here again to read your explanation. You said it much better than I ever could, though I did leave Webhat a note on their talk page, earlier this morning, asking them to withdraw this SPI. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:21, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I think you'll find that the comments were made after the name changes took place, and you can see this for yourselves.
