Suspected sockpuppets

In November 2008, Rlevse confirmed several sockpuppets of EmilEikS.[1] A request for comment was filed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/EmilEikS and the account retired afterward. Most recent edit was December 29.[2]

Since that time other IPs and accounts have been active at the same topics, and if these are the same individual then one person is attempting to stack a discussion at Talk:Mae West.[3] 217.209.96.65 started a proposal and YeahManSwed supported it. In December Jehochman thought 217.21.225.53 and 217.209.96.57 were probably EmilErikS.[4] EmilErikS edited the user page of YeahManSwed.[5] All five IP addresses originate from Sweden, EmilErikS claims to be Swedish, and YeahManSwed claims to be part Swedish. These IPs and accounts demonstrate similar interests and appear to know procedure and policy with unusual haste after they begin editing. If these are the same person than one individual is attempting to use socks to create a false local consensus at article talk that would override policy. I asked one of the IP editors if s/he were EmilErikS and s/he denied it, then shortly afterward the YeahManSwed account supported a proposal that the IP had started. "Likely" is not confirmed sockpuppetry and even confirmed sockpuppetry is not a problem unless is it disruputive. These Swedish editors have done no such thing. Wildhartlivie's campaign of persecution continues from last year and will probably never end. She and her always sympathetic friends have already scared several valuable editors (IPs and others) and potential donors away from this project and the Wikimedia Foundation. When it comes to "EmilEikS" (or "Emil" as she used to call him when always being personal, nasty, condescending and scary) and Mae West - an article she bascially owns, she immediately becomes an angry mastodon and a fanatic, gets everyone involved in a literally sickening mess and indulges in massive disruptive behavior. She has started all this again now though it is totally unwarranted this time. People have gone out of their way to be fair to her. To no avail. Today, to throw her weight around, she has stalked her hated Swedish IPs to Daniel Westling and removed a template she found there too, as a good quick target (she thought) for her supervisory zeal. As usual, not really contributing anything very valuable to the project (she doesn't think the engagement of the Crown Princess is "ongoing" so there went the template). No telling what she will decide to put her stamp on next, but following some Stockholm IPs around is a good bet for anyone interested in checking up on her. Her friends want "only half kidding" to put black bars over people's faces so that folks Wildhartlivie doesn't want in pictures will be defaced. Reading through all this, as many of us stunned users (with similar IPs) have done on the Southern Isle Södermalm of Stockholm, Sweden since this started last november, can literally make you sick.The time has come to stop ungrounded IP probes that are going to backfire on the people breaking the strict rules about when they are allowed to be conducted and when they are not. One situation when they are not allowed to be conducted is when Wildhartlivie is upset about "EmilEikS" (who quit last year). The Gestapo or KGB tactics of certain authorized administrators is one of the most unsettling things about English Wikipedia and makes it impossible for many valuable contributors to participate. Checkuser is restricted by both privacy policy and Checkuser policy, as well as English Wikipedia's own individual Checkuser policy. One of the IPs approached a previously uninvolved editor here, requesting backing for the proposal and then came back and write a disclaimer to the person's post response, explaining why his opinion is now inappropriate. There has crept into the conversation very familiar references to "we" and "some Swedes" (on the post for ukexpat), implying a group of persons who are collaborating together, such as was done by User:EmilEikS in the original issues for the page, including claiming that many persons used the same computer - to edit the same articles, make the same arguments and push the same content POV. There is the comment in response to Durova's question asking if the poster was EmilEikS as being "creepy" and issues related to anonymity that have surfaced in the past, by accounts User:Fiandonca and User:EmilEikS. I don't think all of Sweden would have the basic response complaints. Finally, the argument that all of Sweden has IPs that begin with 217 may be true, but there is little to no doubt in my mind that two IPs that differ by only the last numbers, 217.209.96.65 and 217.209.96.87, originate from the same place, as did the IP 217.209.96.57, who removed the posting to User talk:EmilEikS concerning the findings of a sock puppet investigation posted by Jehochman as well as many other posts regarding this in November and December 2008. Most of the above listed accounts have made similar changes to articles such as Jacob Truedson Demitz (whose stage name is Lars Jacob) and Wild Side Story, articles which otherwise receive little editing activity and related articles and imply a level of widespread notability to the subjects beyond which can be confirmed anywhere and all suggest equally that because one subject is a fan and produced a show of minor notability that includes a characterization of Mae West, that makes the producer notable to the life, career and biography of West. At one time, there was confirmation from an external link to a webpage that confirmed that User:EmilEikS and the article subject Demitz were associated in real life through some organization in Sweden as well as a production company. In arguing issues during 11/08 and 12/08, EmilEikS and User:Fiandonca (confirmed socks) constantly made reference to "we", referring to their board and organization. That surfaces again on Talk:Mae West. Wikipedia:Requests for comment/EmilEikS contains more information that is now reinforced by the IPs that have recently surfaced to the West page.
