Legacy7[edit]

I was referred here from WP:AN/3RR (3RR report and referral response), as though it is fairly apparent that this IP address and user are one and the same, and their combined edits on Georgia Tech traditions constitute a violation of 3RR, it is necessary to make certain that they are the same person through this process. Examining both Legacy7 and the IP's user contributions, both have only edited this one article. (Legacy7 contribs, 70.46.67.98 contribs) They continue to revert reverts of other editors of the article, who have stated in as many ways possible in the edit summaries that the information is not appropriate for the scope of the article. Both users are concerned with the exact information, and in the edit summary of the revert made by the IP at 15:32, 8 November 2007, he refers to the edit summary made by Legacy7 at 23:41, 7 November 2007 and uses the pronoun "I" in reference to the previous edit summary. • Is there evidence of these accounts supporting each other's actions as sock/meat puppet accounts or is this just a case of someone forgetting to login resulting in the creation of alternate accounts? Editors may still be blocked for 3RR even if they have made three or fewer reverts in a 24 hour period, if their behavior is clearly disruptive. -- Jreferee t/c 19:14, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • 70.46.67.98's edit summary states "As stated before, I blieve ALL the winners are note worthy. I would like to see more added with year and wrec".[1] A review of all 70.46.67.98 contributions - Special:Contributions/70.46.67.98 - reveals that the 70.46.67.98 account has never stated any such thing before making that edit summary. Legacy7 did state in an edit summary "I would like to post the winner wrecks from every year"[2]. That seems to be connected to 70.46.67.98's noted edit summary. 70.46.67.98 is using another Wikipedia account and it if is Legacy7, then they are in violation of 3RR and if the person is using two accounts to evade 3RR, that brings up sockpuppet issues per the request at Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets/74.244.11.122#User:74.244.11.122. Checkuser is needed to sort this out. -- Jreferee t/c 19:38, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I don't think that 74.244.11.122 is actually involved in any of this, but rather was at the wrong place at the wrong time and is having his reverted good-faith edit used to make a point. I ran a WHOIS on the two IPs, and 74.244.11.122 is a Bellsouth IP from Atlanta, and 70.46.67.98 is a FloridaDigital IP from Maitland, FL. There is an off-chance that there is meatpuppeting going on, but I don't think that is the case either as 74.244.11.122 hasn't really shown a pattern of tendentious editing the way 70.46.67.98 and Legacy7 have. no Unnecessary. Obvious. I love the formatting by the way. There'd never be a backlog here if everyone formatted as wonderfully as you. --Deskana (talk) 01:33, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was obvious as well, but WP:AN/3RR wouldn't do anything about the 3RR violation because it wasn't obvious to them. *shrug* What to do, then? LaMenta3 04:19, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I blocked Legacy7 (talk · contribs) indefinitely for addition of nonsense and edit warring. This was the final straw. --Deskana (talk) 14:39, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
