Dahn[edit]

I am a writer from Timişoara, Romania. Somebody from Wikipedia tried to impersonate me, creating an account with my name - User:Marius Mioc. This was already clarified, the account was blocked and the userpage deleted. However, I would like to know who is behind this attempt of identity theft, as I saw that it was an elaborated attempt. The impersonator made some research about me in order to find biographical data and he used a real photo of myself, which he (she?) took from the internet, from the Romanian newspaper "Bănăţeanul". The photo was meantime deleted from Wikipedia, at my request. The entire story was a reason for bad press for Wikipedia, because after I told to the "Bănăţeanul" newspaper that one of their photos was used for my impersonation at Wikipedia, they published an article mentioning this fact. The article is in general about my historical writings, the impersonation attempt is not the main subject of the article link to article in Romanian language.Mioc Marius (talk) 13:57, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information needed What is the involvement of User:Dahn? Can you explain his relationship to the case and perhaps offer a diff? -JodyB talk 18:14, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: The account User:Marius Mioc is indef blocked per OTRS #2007121310011599. -JodyB talk 18:11, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The impersonation attempt was surely made by somebody from Wikipedia who don't like me. There are plenty of people who don't like me, some are even hating me, as result of my political involvement. This is not a problem for me as long as they don't use dirty tricks like impersonation attempts. I saw that User:Dahn is one of those who don't like me. In this edit [2] he is talking about me while there was no reason to have my name involved, as I have no relation with the subject of that article (Vladimir Tismăneanu). Dahn was claiming that an american researcher about the Romanian Revolution of 1989 (my area of expertise) is one of my friends (he is not, he only quoted some of my writings in his researches), and, as result, is implying that the American is not a really reliable source. The entire discussion is without any logic and without any relation with the article Vladimir Tismăneanu, where the discussion occured. My conclusion is that Dahn dislikes me at the point that he dislikes anybody who made favourable comments about my writings, and is mentioning this fact even where is no relation about the subject in discussion (like Cato the Elder about Carthage). This is why I suspect him as being motivated enough for making an impersonation attempt with research on the internet about my biography and with a real photo of me. I don't know anybody else at Wikipedia who can be motivated to do such things.--Mioc Marius (talk) 20:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
