Can anybody help find the text for this image of a magazine from 1875: File:Kalakaua state visit to Washington, colored engraving.jpg? I think it is Harper's Weekly or I may be wrong. Searching the limited titles I can squint at gives no results on google. KAVEBEAR (talk) 06:02, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Presumably the government source has the original someplace? Unfortunately, they didn't scan it large enough to enable reading it. Maybe you could write to them and ask about it? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 12:35, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- KAVEBEAR, I couldn't find any contact-us page on the NPG website, so check https://www.si.edu/contacts for the parent Smithsonian Institution's contact-us site. It doesn't mention NPG, so your best choice is probably contacting the Smithsonian's librarians. At best, there's some sort of overlap between the Smithsonian Libraries and NPG, so this will be their responsibility; at worst, they should know about a person or office at NPG that can help you. Please note the warning atop the Smithsonian's website: While the U.S. federal government is partially closed, our museums, research centers, and the National Zoo will be OPEN through Jan. 1. If the partial shutdown continues beyond Jan. 1, all Smithsonian museums, research centers, and the National Zoo will be closed starting Jan. 2. Nyttend (talk) 00:51, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry this was sufficiently answered by an anonymous IP address. KAVEBEAR (talk) 03:27, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
