Abandoned mini-portal on the city of Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia.

Created[1] in September 2012‎ by Mongol Emperor (talk · contribs), who last edited in 2013. So far as I can see, it has never had an identified maintainer.

Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Ulaanbaatar shows a very limited set of subpages:

• Portal:Ulaanbaatar/Selected article, same topic since September 2013‎
  • No other selected articles
• Portal:Ulaanbaatar/Selected picture, same topic since September 2013‎ [2]
  • No other selected pics

And that's all. A static display of the lede of the head article, plus one pic and the lead of another article doesn't cone with a million miles of the WP:PORTAL principle that "Portals serve as enhanced 'Main Pages' for specific broad subjects". This is massively less useful in every respect than the head article Ulaanbaatar.

It is not fair on readers to continue to lure them to waste their time on this stillborn page.

So I propose that this portal and its sub-pages be deleted per WP:TNT, without prejudice to recreating a curated portal in accordance with whatever criteria the community may have agreed at that time. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:40, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

• Delete - This portal has the most interesting pageview metrics that I have seen recently. The average number of daily pageviews is 0, with an occasional day when there was 1 pageview. The article has 1336 daily pageviews. Either publicize this portal so as to have it be viewed, or delete it. The latter is more obvious. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:38, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Robert McClenon, the pageviews can be misleading unless you spot that the portal was recently moved from Portal:Ulan Bator to Portal:Ulaanbaatar. The pageviews tool isn't smart enough to know that, and has to be told about it. The Jan–Feb 2019 combined figure for both titles is a median of 4 pageviews a day, which is barely above the background noise of bots, webcarwlers and wikpedia editors ... but it is slightly better than zero. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 02:02, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1. Per WP:PORTAL, portals require active maintenance and curation to fulfil their purpose. This fails that part.
2. Per WP:POG, portals require a broad scope, with a single selected article, this is clearly not the case here.
