Portal:Thrissur[edit]

Portal:Thrissur (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Narrow scope, built single off a single navbox.

The scope of this portal is the Indian city of Thrissur, with a population of 1.85 million. That not a tiny city, but it is only the 5th-biggest city in the Indian state of Kerala. It's only a Level-5 vital article, i.e. in the 10,001–50,000 range of priority topics.

Dozens of similar portals have shown that a single city of this size doesn't meet the WP:POG requirement that portals be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers". Portals for cities of these size repeatedly lack both maintainer and readers: it has had only 89 total pageviews in the last 2 months, an average of 1.5/day. That's barely above background noise.

Another automated pseudo-portal whose list is built off a single navbox, in this case ((Thrissur)).

This page was missed in the mass nominations of automated portalspam because it had been redirected to the head article by @Legacypac. I have reverted that redirect, because a) Wikipedia:Cross-namespace redirects are nearly always controversial, and b) good-faith redirection of a type of page which is being hotly debated might be misunderstood as an attempt to evade or pre-empt consensus-forming discussions.

As with other single-navbox-based portals, the portal is just a WP:REDUNDANTFORK of the navbox. In every case, the navbox does a better job, because:

So it's best to just delete this pseudo-portal. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:36, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly refrain from suggesting I can't read. Legacypac (talk) 23:13, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you did actually read what I wrote, then kindly note that I explicitly acknowledged your good faith. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:41, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
