Portal:Superhero fiction[edit]
- Portal:Superhero fiction (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Dead portal. This portal was started in 2008 as Portal:Superheroes and renamed to Portal:Superhero fiction. This portal contains a red links, and it is completely malformed. JJ98 (Talk) 05:01, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: The portal is hardly malformed. While it's certainly incomplete, what is there is pretty good. All it would take is a little work (and it has been worked as recently as a few months ago). Perhaps notifying a few related projects would help? ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 07:07, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Oh boy, it's been approximately six months since I worked on this portal. I knew I should have stayed with it, but filling in those templates is such a chore. Looking over the revision history, one can see that prior to my involvement this portal had been neglected for over a year. Dead indeed. However I dramatically overhauled it within the span of a few days. Burn out was inevitable. I did try to spread awareness of the portal. I'd given it a more accurate name to foster recognition of what the topic broadly covered, and added portal links to various Superhero fiction related FA articles. Yet, I admit that I failed to promote the portal among users and recruit editors who would be most interested in working on it: members of WikiProject Comics and WikiProject Science Fiction. Perhaps before we rush to pull the plug, we should find out how much interest there is in salvaging this. I would argue that this is a potentially useful portal. I would say more useful than the portal on Aliens, or The Simpsons. Superhero fiction comprises a sub-genre of speculative fiction that has launched the careers of many established authors and artists, crossed media platforms, influenced international patterns of popular fiction, and carries over seventy years of media history. A portal on the subject would be very useful. We just need editors to put effort into it, and hopefully not back away from it like I did. I had wanted to avoid adding a news feed because I wouldn't count on my own continued interest. Once the automated templates I set up are running, this portal can be self sustaining and will only require GA and FA additions as the editors of WikiProject Comics makes them available. --Cast (talk) 07:18, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- An addendum: Checking my contributions and filtering for Portal edits, we can see that my most recent edit for the subpages of this portal was a minor edit in March, but I had also been adding featured content and editing its presentation through January and February. So. Yeah. I hadn't walked away completely. I just needed a break. --Cast (talk) 16:42, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
