Portal:New Brunswick[edit]
- Portal:New Brunswick (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Old abandoned portal with minimal views and no maintainer no real updates since 2010 (I created the portal and have no interest in it anymore) Moxy 🍁 00:28, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete This portal has been abandoned for over nine years, except for some one off updates by one editor in 2018. During the eight years one biography sat untouched from 2010-18, the subject died in 2014. It clearly fails WP:POG's requirement that portals should be about subjects broad enough to attract large numbers of maintainers and readers. This portal has had over nine years of no steady maintainers and it had a very low 10 views per day in June and July 2019 (despite the head article New Brunswick having 1704 views per day in the same period). Portals stand or fall on their merits in the now, not what could someday hypothetically happen with them, and this one falls flat. I am strongly against allowing recreation, as nearly a decade of hard evidence shows New Brunswick is not a broad enough topic to attract readers or maintainers. - Delete , concurring with nomination by User:Moxy and analysis by User:Newshunter12. Portal has only seven articles including bios. There has been maintenance in 2018, which is more recent than some, but the lack of articles and the lack of pageviews are problems as described. Any request to re-create with a more modern design that does not use forked subpages, minimizes maintenance, and maximizes views can go via Deletion Review. - Delete this portal isn't needed.Catfurball (talk) 16:23, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per nominator and per @Newshunter12. This is yet another a abandoned mini-portal, which after 9 years still has only 4 selevted articles and 3 selected biogs. all except Selected article/2 has been converted to use ((Transclude lead excerpt)), so while /2 remains a 9-year-old content fork, the other won't rot. But after a decade, the portal still has only a third of the WP:POG minimum of 20 articles.
- WP:POG requires that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers". This one has attracted only trivially small numbers of readers, and no maintainers.
- I also oppose recreation. We have a decade's evidence that editors don't want to maintain this one. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:02, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- PS Note that the 5 DYK pages (Portal:New Brunswick/Did you know?/1, /2, /3, /4, /5) are all 9-year-old fake DYKs. They have nothing to do wit the WP:DYK process which "showcases new or expanded articles that are selected through an informal review process. It is not a general trivia section". They are just WP:TRIVIA which usurps the good name of DYK. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:32, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
