The result of the discussion was: delete without prejudice to recreation of a portal that does this subject justice. MER-C 19:11, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
Shell of a portal. Abandoned in 2014.
Created [1] in August 2007 by Caulde (talk · contribs) as redirect to Portal:North West England.
Actual portal-building begun[2] in December 2013 EP111 (talk · contribs).
Automated[3] in January 2019 by Dreamy Jazz (talk · contribs), drawing its selected articles list solely from the navbox ((Merseyside)), of which it became a redundant fork. (For a full explanation of why this type of portal is redundant, see the two mass deletions of similar portals: one, and two, where there was overwhelming consensus of a very high turnout to delete a total of 2,555 such portals).
Automation reverted[4] 12 May 2019 by BHG.
The result is pretty much useless. The only content is an excerpt of the lead of the head article Merseyside, and Portal:Merseyside/Recommended ... a list of recognised content which is unchanged[5] since the day of its creation in December 2013, and probably a long way out-of-date.
There is no list of key topics, no selected articles of any type.
Per WP:PORTAL, "Portals serve as enhanced 'Main Pages' for specific broad subjects". But this is massively less useful in every respect than even the poor C-class head article Merseyside and its navbox ((Merseyside)).
So I propose that this portal and its sub-pages be deleted per WP:TNT, without prejudice to recreating a curated portal in accordance with whatever criteria the community may have agreed at that time. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:13, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
