Request Information

There is currently a fairly wide-scale edit war on many Magic-related articles, regarding the validity of sources, whether or not editorial oversight can be used in deciding which cards of a Magic set are worth mentioning, the legitimacy of a (necessarily incomplete) "cards" section for each set, and other similar issues. Tempers have flared on all sides, making civil discussion challenging.

While not strictly necessary, it would be useful if the mediator for this subject had at least a passing familiarity with the card game Magic: the Gathering.

Also, please note that the discussion ranged freely on a number of talk pages: the bulk of it can be found in several sections at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Magic:_The_Gathering, as well as User_talk:A Man In Black. --Ashenai 10:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who are the involved parties?

(several other editors: if you wish to participate, please add your name here)

What is the involved article(s)?

There are many such articles, but the issues and arguments are largely the same for every one. Time Spiral, Champions of Kamigawa, Unhinged, and Revised comprise a good cross-section of the articles under debate. --Ashenai 10:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's going on?

From my point of view, User:A Man In Black is talking a hard-line stance on set information that is not supported by policy, and instead of building consensus on the subject, has decided to wage a one-man edit war against a group of established editors. Attempts to reach some sort of compromise have failed, and incivil comments have been made on both sides (including, I am ashamed to admit it, by me). --Ashenai 10:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What would you like to change about that?

I'd like to get to a point where we can reach consensus regarding how Wikipedia policies (paricularly WP:N, WP:V, and WP:CONS) apply to Magic set articles in general and this debate in particular. To be honest, I'd be surprised if we managed this. I'd settle for a permanent cessation of the disruptive and meaningless edit-war. --Ashenai 10:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mediator response

I will wait a week for all parties to agree with the mediation. Sr13 05:58, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
