This was tagged PD-USonly but I think it's simple enough we should be able to use the Commons version. Magog the Ogre (tc) 00:01, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep. Image was re-added to infobox (and has remained since April), so unused non-free image criteria no longer applies. This is the incorrect forum to discuss whether image should be included on page. Discussion should be held on talk page, if necessary, regarding its inclusion. Further, discussion is -very- stale, and status quo is to keep image. (non-admin closure) ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 13:48, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unused non-free image (I removed it from the infobox and placed another image that had discussion).

Fails WP:NFCC 3a and 8. Not substantially different from the depiction of the character in the infobox. There are several images of the figure in slightly different illustration styles; one at most is needed. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 17:02, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

the character has had two main incarnations, his classic tiara-wearing version and his modern version. The difference in his portrayals are pretty big. --DrBat (talk) 21:48, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DrBat: Are you referring to "In 1992, Cage was relaunched in a new series simply titled Cage, set primarily in Chicago. The revived series updated the character, with Cage symbolically destroying his original costume on the cover of the first issue." from the article? If that's the case, the article should include more description of the differences in depiction (with citations). With that, you could justify having one image from each of the two eras - two images total, perhaps with the image not in the infobox moved to the subsection talking about the change in description. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 01:06, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about the general appearance he's had for the last couple of decades, which is what is being used in the info box. Two images, the modern one in the info box, and the classic one in the publication history section showing his original appearance. We can get rid of the cover from the Heroes for Hire Return section. DrBat (talk) 02:33, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with DrBat These versions are substantially different. Also the version depicted in the debut issue cover has not been used in decades and should not be displayed in the infobox per WP:CMOS#BOXIMAGE, which suggests to use the most universally recognized depiction.—TriiipleThreat (talk) 11:08, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with DrBat and TriiipleThreat. The original 1970s version of the character is critical to include, but the character in no way resembles that now. --Tenebrae (talk) 16:01, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The image claimed to be pubic domain with an author of "Yamini Nag" but that is just the person who put it on Pinterest. The image is clearly watermarked with LIFE as in Life magazine and with no proper sourcing to evaluate licensing. Whpq (talk) 18:55, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary non-free media, fails WP:NFCC#8. Offers no educational value, it's not discussed critically, and there is already non-free media on the page. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:59, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
