Two non-free files showing essentially the same logo when there's only a real reason for one to be used per WP:NFCC#3a in 2018 Euro Winners Cup. The additional text and to the soccer cup logo ("File:Nazare Beach Soccer Cup logo.png" might be acceptable in a stand-alone article about the cup itself, but there's no need for what is basically another non-free file representation of the main infobox logo with some additional non-copyrightable text. Suggest keep for "File:Euro Winners Cup 2018 logo.png" and delete for "File:Nazare Beach Soccer Cup logo.png". -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:58, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While the entire page is under ((OGL-3.0)) there is a different license explicitly stated underneath this image. Crown Copyright. Which per c:COM:CRT#Crown copyright lasts for 50 years. Since there is a license stated I'm pretty sure we can't keep this image. Majora (talk) 19:03, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The CGI image is UK Crown Copyright.
The UK National Archives manages UK Crown Copyright - see Link to National Archives Page. This states that the default for Crown copyright is the Open Government Licence (OGL).
The following further UK National Archives Page states the terms under which such UK OGL material can be used. The main requirement seems to be stating the source, which I have done in the proposed use of the image on the 'Dreadnought' class page.
Furthermore it is one of the few official images published by the UK government for this £30bn+ submarine programme. Basic principles of Public interest means that it would be hard for the UK government to argue that this image can't be used.
On this basis, I think it is OK for Wikipedia to use the image. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Independent2011 (talkcontribs) 19:28, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Being one of the "few images" of this submarine is completely and totally irrelevant. Public interest also means nothing. An image's copyright is what matters. And if it not under a free license then the only way you could potentially use it would be under fair use. Which wouldn't count in this instance since it wouldn't meet standards.

Second, I'm fully aware that the OGL is fine. I'm pretty sure I made that clear in my nomination message. I'm saying that I don't believe it is under the OGL and the link you gave us says that most Crown Copyright defaults to OGL. Not all. It is quite clear that you didn't read anything you posted or that I posted. --Majora (talk) 19:34, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image appears on this website where it's noted, "Copyright © 2010 - 2018 Dr. Jayashree S. Todkar". Although the uploader claims they own the copyright, the uploader pretty clearly isn't Dr. Jayashree S. Todkar. Yamla (talk) 22:14, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
