This image of a deceased person comes from a page that was recently deleted, so I tagged it for DI. However, it was recently added to Columbine High School massacre. At that page, it is a failure of WP:NFCC#8, as it is unneeded to understand the article (a picture of him is not needed to show that he saved students or received a medal). Boiled down, I have decided to save the image of William David Sanders from falling into oblivion and placed it on Columbine High School massacre to provide a moral lens to the smiling faces of both murderers. I admire your remarkable persistence, my good colleague Beerest355, as much as your ingenious signature, but this indeed would be the case when use of non-free content will "significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding" as WP:NFCC#8 states. By the way, the page that you mentioned above was not actually deleted as you mistakenly assumed, on the contrary, it was merged with Columbine High School massacre to emphasize, I believe, the bold actions of William David Sanders, a forgotten hero of Columbine shooting. That was right, since we all regardless of our age need unselfish heroes as role models in our uncertain times which are rife with complex challenges and gut-wrenching moral choices. Also, in the future please kindly inform other users involved about your deletion intentions, we are all busy people, are we? Deleted or basically deleted? They say that the devil is in the details... And besides that fact that you probably simply did not like the guy and started the AfD, - I see no rationale at all in your actions and also in musing on a subject of WP:NFCC#8. That image was simply marked as orphaned, there is nothing wrong with it, nobody complained about it except yourself, and, most of all, I found a good home for it. Besides providing a visual identification, it shows what type of a person you should be in order to place common interest above emotional preferences. • Delete, Sanders did act heroically, and I'm glad his actions are not forgotten. But memorializing the dead or "providing a moral lens" are not valid reasons to use non-free images on Wikipedia, no matter how noble the goals may seem. As a human being I am more emotionally moved when I see the face of the victim, but I do not understand the topic of the article any better. All of our non-free images have to pass all our non-free content criteria, including #8, or they should be deleted. It's nothing personal. I'm not exactly sure what your last two sentences mean, but I'm quite proud of the work I've done on Wikipedia over the last decade, I don't see it as a dungeon, and I invite wider scrutiny on all my actions here.
