• The uploader removed the deletion tag, but I still don't think that the image is free, so I readded it. The page states: "For any reuse or distribution of this image, please attribute with at least the photographer's name Åbäke along with the license information". Åbäke is not a personal name but a noun which you can find in a dictionary[1]. Due to its negative meaning, no one would ever dream about using it as a name for their children. Besides, this is the kind of image which would typically need OTRS permission. I meant to put this request at the PUF page, but I must have forgot to select the PUF checkbox in Twinkle --Stefan2 (talk) 11:40, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - What is bizarre is that the source listed for this image is actually the source of the other image. This image is noticeably lighter and more textured than the listed source. However, the section it's being used in is purely about scientific, real-world aspects of the star, and bears no relation to any discussion related to the actual topic of the article (or if there is such a connection, it's an implied and unsourced one and entirely WP:OR). Betelgeuse in fiction is one of a collection of articles (Aldebaran in fiction, Alpha Centauri in fiction, etc) that have been moved out of the general article Stars and planetary systems in fiction because of the large number of fictional citations they contain. Each of these articles contains an Overview section giving physical, exoplanetary, astronomical, etymological, and cultural background on the star. This is important information for readers of the article so that they can better understand and appreciate the choices made by authors of works of fiction in portraying the star as a location in space or as the host of a planetary system. In particular, the image of Betelgeuse showing star spots as evidence of convective cells that contribute to the star's envelope and variability are relevant to some of the works of fiction that feature Betelgeuse.

First thing, this is a rather poor structural choice for a series of articles. These non-fictional kinds of info belong in the main article on the star itself, of which the "in fiction" ought to be treated as a sub-article. Second, if the star spots are "relevant" to some of the works, as you claim, I'm not seeing any of that in the article. Where is that connection described and discussed? Third, however, even if such a discussion was present, without reliable sourcing, everything that would relate the discussion of the fictional stuff with the physical info is "original research". this has a somewhat complex history. It was upload about 5 or 6 years ago, along with several others, for Ásmundar Sveinsson. Then someone said that they were copyright protected, (though they are my pictures) so I took them out of the article, but did not remove them from wikipedia. I did not know how to do that. Now looking at our Freedom of panorama article I see that Iceland has freedom of panorama for non-commercial purposes, such as wikipedia (?) but probably not good for commons. • Comment It could be useful to have at least one example of a sculpture by him in the article. I see that he was born before 1923 and that he has lived in Sweden. Were any of his statues erected before 1 January 1923? Are any of his statues in Sweden? An old revision of the article shows that there are plenty of pictures on Wikipedia, all of them being post-1923 statues in Iceland.
