I do not mind the deletion; however, you can examine the File: Hamilton Fish Brady.jpg. On the top of Fish's forehead are some markings. On the "edited" version the top forehead on the hair line has been edited more naturally without signifigant markings. Comment - the SVG version is clearly superior so the JPG file should be deleted, but the SVG could also be improved by italicising the n and removing the "R group" label, unless someone can explain what the label is supposed to mean. As it stands, polyanhydride structure, which contains an R group, appears to be being labelled as an R group, which is a recursive definition, hence my confusion. Comment – both replacement and original have issues needing correction, inlcuding:

An arrow begins from the bond between an R group and a carbonyl group and goes to nowhere, yet seems not to mean anything – it should be removed
Changing the carboxylic acid to HA is unclear to those unfamiliar with organic chemistry
Labelling three potentially different groups as R is bad practice, it should be R, R', and R'' or similar (like R₁, R₂, and R₃)
The arrow from the phosporous–oxygen bond to the H atom of HA looks like it is forming a P—H bond; moving the HA to above the chain and curving arrow the other way would look much more like forming the new O—H bond
The second arrow should have −A⁻ adjacent to it, or the A⁻ product should be shown
None of the arrows should be fish-hooks, as DMacks has noted

In the new image, the double bonds in the aromatic ring disappear and then re-appear. The mechanism omits the deprotonation of the aromatic nitrogen and the protonation of the alkoxy anion. Such short-cuts are likely to confuse readers, and are (IMO) bad practice when used in books. Sorry to be picky but its hard enough getting students to understand mechanistic organic chemistry and I don't like book or online sources that don't follow the strict rules of this notational formalism. Comment - the top left structure, 8,8'-DIFA, has a methyl group attached to the second benzene ring but on the original file this is a methoxy group. Based on the formula given for the diferulic acids in their wiki-article, I believe that the original file is correct. This should be fixed before the low quality GIF is deleted. Comment - DMacks is correct, both the original and the improved SVG versions are incorrect as they both fail to conserve charge. I suggest the following modifications:

In the original diagram, move the lone pair on the B to the other side as the arrow should start at the lone pair - otherwise there would be no reason to include it
I realise that it is not easy to do, but the arrow forming the carbanion should begin at the centre of the carbon-hydrogen bond, not at the H atom
The resulting protonated base species should be charged, ie. BH+ not BH. The positive charge should be shown on the B atom. Without this charge, there is the spontaneous creation of a negative charge on the carbanion without a counter-balancing positive charge
The arrow forming the double bond should begin at the carbanion negative charge and not originate in a carbon-carbon bond
The arrow for the leaving group leaving should be double-headed, and the leaving group should be an anion L- and not a radical

I have uploaded an alternative version of the Elimination Reaction E1, which corresponds to textbooks and internet sites where the Leaving Group (in this case X) leaves in the first step to create the cation and then the B: comes in and removes the H to give the alkene. Comment – not sure why the bonds off the wing II pyridine ring are shown as above the plane when the geometry is planar. I also suspect this could be clearer (and more useful to other wikis) if labels were removed and the wings indicated by colours. If the nevirapine label is retained, it should not be capitalised. Comment - the equation as written implies a spontaneous reaction of ethanol to 1,3-butadiene. I suggest a much longer reaction arrow with "metal oxide catalyst" or some similar comment above the arrow, and perhaps some indication of conditions (temperature and/or pressure) below the arrow. The paper from which this comes will provide the necessary information - I can find it if needs be - but as a matter of general practice I believe WP should not show equations for non-spontaneous reactions at RTP without some indication of any needed catalysts and conditions, etc. EdChem (talk) 02:10, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - I suggest that the SVG be altered to specify that the product is o-benzoquinone or 1,2-benzoquinone. Simply "benzoquinone" is imprecise as it could refer to p-benzoquinone. Also, chemical names (including the catechol oxidase enzyme over the reaction arrow) are not proper nouns and so should not be capitalised unless they begin a sentence. Thus, I suggest the labels be "catechol", "catechol oxidase", and "o-benzoquinone". However, even if these changes are not made, the SVG version is superior to the GIF version and so deletion of the GIF is justified.
The arrow was fixed by the uploader. Concerning the labels, I would just remove “Catechol” and “Benzoquinone”. If necessary, the substance names can be added in the image caption in the article. --Leyo 11:01, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Replacement has arrows that are substantially half-arrow fish-hook (correct is electron-pair full-arrow--even original has more of these "correct" and others blurry; .svg is wrong) and the perchlorophenol is so close to the t-butyl in the lower-center intermediate that it appears bonded. Oppose - .svg image is incorrect in that arrows are missing. For example, there should be an arrow from the oxygen lone pair in the furan ring in the second step to form the oxonium species. An arrow from the nitrogen lone pair in step four is also missing. Both of these are included in the original. The trifluoroacetic acid is also deprotonated and the trifluoroacetate ion reprotonated without explanation, leading to violation of the law of conservation of charge. I have added the missing arrows present in the first one. FYI - I am copying the original pictures as they were and not correcting any missing chemistry. The originals were on Wikipedia for long enough without being altered or removed. So if someone else wants to redraw them for more accurate chemistry, then they are welcome to do that. In the new version, the N atom in second structure and the O atom in the third appear to bear radical dots; these should be positive charges, as in the original (sorry if I missed this before). As for not correcting the chemistry, I can understand leaving it if you aren't sure - and the aesthetic improvements are welcome, please let me be clear about that - but if you are sure there are errors, they are worth correcting, or at least asking about. Comment – both the original and the replacement have errors. The replacement has lost the negative charge that should be on the –OPO₃H group of the C4P. The following alterations should also be made to the final product:

the C–C bond between C(6) and C(7) should be a double bond
the C–O bonds at C(5) and C(8) should be double bonds and not end in radicals
the C–C bond between C(1) and C(9a) should be in blue not black
