vishwin60 (talk · contribs) I have been here as a largely invisible user since May 12, 2006, however I officially started editing on September 17 (EST) of that year. Since then, I have become very active, joining WikiProjects, fighting vandalism, learning about the various policies and guidelines, and most of all, helping to write the encyclopedia. • You're a great all-round editor, with edits well-distributed around. You have a high proportion of edits to mainspace, which is great, and you start lots of articles. You use edit summaries and the minor edit checkbox, so none of the usual problems. I could pester you about having only 0.02% of your edits in template talk, but, that's not a problem at all. You do a lot of vandal fighting, which is fantastic. You have participated in RFC's - this is something not a lot of users do, and it is great to see people doing it. You are a member of several wikiprojects, which definately shows skills with working together etc. You participate in FAC's, however I did notice one you forgot to sign, but oh well. I would recommend you get a tool such as WP:TWINKLE to help with vandal-fighting - it's much more powerful than the undo utility provided by MediaWiki.

Questions

1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

   I am most proud of the articles that I've helped get GA status; see my userpage for details on those. However, I am most pleased with U.S. Route 322 in New Jersey making it into DYK, since this was the first complete article I've written in a single edit, and that it had an interesting fact in it (...that it used to be concurrent with state highways its entire route). DYK, as I've witnessed, is pretty hard to make, since (1) it has to be a decent article (doesn't have to be GA yet), (2) it has to have an interesting fact that readers will go, "Wow!", and (3) it has to be new. In my work on that article, I would also like to give a shout-out to SPUI, who has been here since 2003, and has since helped, disrupted, and gave advice to various Wikipedians like me. Though he doesn't edit right now, he is currently sitting around on IRC somewhere, and helped me find sources like the New Jersey state statutes and old Straight Line Diagram(s) for the article, so I thank him for that.

   I haven't gotten any articles up to FA yet, though I'm pretty close to getting it. Hopefully I can get more articles to GA, FA, and DYK.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

   If you were a Wikipedia for as long as I have, you are bound to run into conflicts while editing. Some might get lucky and run into no conflicts. For me, it was early on, so I used the conventional way of dealing with it—talking it out on talk pages to gain consensus. This basic principle followed me all through my time here, as with every other Wikipedian. I will regret how I discussed in January-February, since that was a time when lots of U.S. Road articles were getting sent to AFD for mainly a notability concern. Back then, the main WikiProject I was participating in (USRD) was in a huge turmoil, IRC was just getting started, and users started screaming in the talk pages. I, unfortunately, had to get a little kick out of that, but after all that, I will never discuss how I did back then. Right now and in the future, I will give as thorough of a response as possible, stay civil and keep a cool head at all times, and tell other users to do the same when they are not being civil and/or keeping a cool head.
