Macboots (talk · contribs) I've been editing at Wikipedia for awhile now and would like to get a better handle on how I can positively contribute to the community. Having someone help me out and make sure I'm on the right track would be much appreciated! Macboots 05:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reviews
- You seem to be doing quite well with contributing positively to the community. :) Your edit summaries are complete and instructive (although you might want to be sure to use them for all changes; the red bar suggests you may still be inconsistent with the application. They're valuable even on talk pages.) It's good that you discussed the change to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story on its talk page; that demonstrates respect for other users and a willingness to collaborate on improving articles. You seem to have a good grasp on when changes are minor and when they aren't. I notice that here you quite properly repaired vandalism to the page Empress Matilda, but did not follow through with a warning to the user (nor explain your reversion in the edit summary). Leaving warnings for vandals not only helps discourage them from vandalizing in the future, but can also be useful to other editors down the line if the vandal persists and needs blocking. It makes an easier paper trail. :) Procedures for cleaning up vandalism, including templates for userpages, can be found at vandalism. If you decide you'd like to get involved more in that aspect and need clarification, please feel free to contact me at my user talk. Your article on Negative freeroll seems well-written and certainly in accordance with the WP:MOS, but it would benefit from more accessible sourcing, if such is available. Additional sources would also help establish notability of the term. You don't seem to me to have been involved in any major conflicts to speak of--the one you reference at Negative freeroll as an example was very low-key. You seemed to do a good job there of remaining civil given that the edit summary of the other editor might well have sparked tension. Be warned that if you increase your presence on Wikipedia, particularly if you do undertake more vandalism reversion, you may run into considerably more stressful interactions than that. :) If you'd like me to go further into any of this, please let me know. Good luck and happy editing. --Moonriddengirl 15:30, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions
- Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Helping contribute to the rat terrier page, as it seems to have gotten cleaner and better since I started working on it. Also developing the negative freeroll page, as there is little information out there about it and it is a commonly misunderstood concept.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A few reverts here and there, particularly over the example in negative freeroll. I was concerned that the reviewed might take offense to my reinserting the example, so I left comments on the discussion page, as well as noting that an authoritative source uses a similar example. In the future I would do take the same line, and seek out administrative help if the discussion couldn't be resolved.
