The resulting discussion is a series of sub-threads, some of which had reasonable participation and some did not ... but the whole thing is so unwieldy that I don't think it is possible to meaningfully weigh consensus on either the whole or on any of the parts. I intend no criticism of the nominator, who has clearly put a lot of commendable work into analysing this category tree and presenting a detailed set of proposals. However, with the benefit of hindsight, it seems that a CfD discussion has not been able to review this many issues at once, and an alternative way is needed to structure the consensus-forming discussions around JEL-based categories. FWIW, I suggest that it may helpful to first have an RFC on the meta question of whether Wikipedia's categorisation scheme should follow the JEL codes, and if so how closely ... and then proceed to a series of smaller CFDs to apply the agreed principles to more manageable subsets of categories.
