Operator: Xqt (talk)

Automatic or Manually Assisted: automatic

Programming Language(s): Python (pywikipedia framework)

Function Summary: put ((db-talk)) onto orphaned talk pages (namespace 1),
put ((db-r2)) onto redirect talk pages which has been moved (namespace 1),
redir-fix of redirects referenced to moved page to the new destination (except user space)

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): daily outside of peak time

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): at german wikipedia only

Function Details: Get the source pages from the move logfile and set filter to namespace 1; for each page do: if the given page exists, check wether this page is a talk page and a redirect, else skip to the next. Test for references to this page an put it to the comment line. Depending on the existing of the corresponding main article it puts one of the both templates on the top of the page. Write the processed pages to the bots User:Xqbot/Log. The redir-fix part uses functionality of the redirect.py, the processed pages would be logged by the special:contribution.

Discussion[edit]

Regarding ((db-talk)), I note that Wikipedia:CSD#G8 has very broad exceptions, including "deletion discussions that are not logged elsewhere" and "talk page archives". How is your bot going to determine if a talk page is actually deletable under G8?

Regarding ((db-r2)), I'm not clear on what you intend to do. It sounds like you are intending to place ((db-r2)) on redirects from one talk page to another that are left after a move. However, Wikipedia:CSD#R2 applies to cross-namespace redirects from article space, not redirects from one talk page to another, so that would make no sense.
