Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Supervised - I will be at AWB at all time when running Automatic

Programming language(s): AWB

Source code available: N/A

Function overview: Remove ((user sandbox)) from articles in Draft space using Category:Non-userspace pages using User sandbox

Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate):

Edit period(s): Once a week

Estimated number of pages affected: Every time a sandbox is moved to draftspace

Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes

Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): No

Function details: When an draft is moved from userspace (normally a sandbox) to Draftspace, there is a template left over, ((user sandbox)), which populates Category:Non-userspace pages using User sandbox. Using the bot account, AWB will be used to remove the template.

This will use the Regex ((.*[Uu]ser sandbox.*)) at capture variations of use and also the parameters allowed by the template.

This task will only be pointed at the Draft namespace, as I'm aware there are wikiedu bits in that category as well.

Discussion[edit]

TheSandDoctor, isn't this one of your bot's tasks? Primefac (talk) 01:55, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac: you thinking of Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/TheSandBot_2, that doesn't do ((user sandbox)) - RichT|C|E-Mail 13:08, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac and Rich Smith: Correct. No overlap so long as it doesn't branch further than sandbox templates (which is actually a good idea IMO...not sure why I didn't think of that back then hehe ). Thanks for checking though, Primefac. --TheSandDoctor Talk 14:44, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Rich Smith, if this is going to be supervised, I can just add the account to the AWB checklist and not worry about a bot flag. Primefac (talk) 22:24, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Primefac, doesn't AWB disallow access to the bot tab to run automatically unless a bot flag is set? - RichT|C|E-Mail 22:25, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but if you're running supervised you're not running automatically. Primefac (talk) 23:09, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah okay, I misunderstood the definition of supervised... it will run automatically, then I will check its edits after completion. After a couple of runs, I'll just let it go - RichT|C|E-Mail 13:43, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Approved for trial (25 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. I'll add the bot to the AWB list, but run it manually for this trial. Primefac (talk) 17:14, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Trial complete. With a couple where I noticed that ((Userspace draft)) does not get picked up by anything, so I added a check for that - diff1 diff2. I also added a sub-rule check for <(!)-- EDIT BELOW THIS LINE --> which is normally added under the sandbox template. - RichT|C|E-Mail 23:43, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Approved. Primefac (talk) 18:38, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
