The result was delete‎. I see a consensus to Delete this article. If an editor wants to work on this article in Draft space and submit it to AFC, let me know. If you bypass AFC and move it back to main space, it will be deleted again as a CSD G4. For better or worse, reliable sources and policy establishes acceptable criteria for notability, not editor's opinions on what they think is notable Liz Read! Appears to be a very young player who may have WP:SIGCOV one day but does not currently meet those standards. Anwegmann (talk) 23:31, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are other articles of size and shape on Wikipedia That's not a compelling argument; see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. On the other hand the article about Vladyslav Kalyn will grow and get better over time. The article could made a draft for now then and be re-published when there is WP:SIGCOV. Robby.is.on (talk) 10:27, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no guarantee that the article will improve or that Kalyn will become notable over time, this would appear to be a WP:CRYSTAL argument. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 15:55, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion Kalyn is already notable. He plays for club belonging to the highest tier in Ukrainian football, and he played/scored for Ukraine national U17 football team in the 2023 UEFA European U17 Championship qualification. His contract belongs to the runner-up of the Ukrainian Premier League 2023/24 (FC Dynamo Kyiv). About improvement of the article: I try to do my best since I've created the article. Web-wiki-warrior (talk) 19:48, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Incorrect. WP:SPORTBASIC clearly excludes database sources (e.g. UEFA, Soccerway) when it comes to notability; Sports biographies must include at least one reference to a source providing significant coverage of the subject, excluding database sources.. I suggest you read that guideline in full. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:19, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, please give an example/reference to the significant coverage of the subject if we talk about sports biography. Suppose the football player we are talking about is not somebody like Lionel Messi...
Web-wiki-warrior (talk) 11:03, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Spiderone: Exactly! That's why I've been replacing database sources with the closest secondary ones I could find in footballer articles, especially regarding their club and national team appearances.
I was also wondering... Is there any article of less-known footballers that pass WP:SPORTBASIC and WP:GNG, whether they are youth or senior? ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 12:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Clariniie I would say Lorena Bocanegra and Ainara Manterola are good examples of low profile footballers that have significant coverage. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:48, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sports biographies must include at least one reference to a source providing significant coverage of the subject, excluding database sources. per WP:SPORTBASIC. Not even one source offering significant, in-depth coverage of Kalyn has been presented. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:17, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion the source presents significant coverage of the subject. Web-wiki-warrior (talk) 11:14, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In response to your comment He plays for club belonging to the highest tier in Ukrainian football, and he played/scored for Ukraine national U17 football team in the 2023 UEFA European U17 Championship qualification. - please can you directly quote a Wikipedia guideline that states that this means he is notable? Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:24, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wish to find something you asked for, but unfortunately under WP:SPORTBASIC there is nothing like Wikipedia notability guideline(s) if we talk about a football player. For me personally as I already mentioned above, there are enough notability facts: 1. The football player is a Ukrainian youth international; 2. He plays in a team of the Ukrainian Premier League; 3. His contract belongs to the FC Dynamo Kyiv (Runner-up of the Ukrainian Premier League 2023/24). Sources with significant coverage like https://www.dynamomania.com/player/9638-vladislav-kalin have been provided. Web-wiki-warrior (talk) 11:26, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Following changes due to NSPORTS2022, sportspeople articles must contain multiple significant coverage to pass WP:GNG. Dynamo Mania is a player profile. What is the exact notability of this person? Is there anything significant in more reputed Ukrainian sport-related online newspapers such as 24 Kanal, Football24.ua, isport.ua, etc? ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 13:00, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
About exact notability of this person: The player is a Ukrainian youth international (U17). Furthermore there are a lot of wikipedia articles about football players like this one, and they were not set to be deleted. I know every article is unique, but I would prefer "fair play" if we talk about the wiki-articles like this one. Web-wiki-warrior (talk) 14:56, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
