Claims notability in contesting deletion so switching to AFD, Fails WP:GNG and WP:AUTHOR Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:14, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Claim of notability based on (among other things) special session of IEEE International Conference on Software 2007 commemorating 20th anniversary of publication of one of his books: http://www.computer.org/csdl/proceedings/icsecompanion/2007/2892/00/28920021-abs.html or search on "Peopleware" in any IEEE Computer Society digital resource. Article is non-promotional, a simple list of Lister's published works (one being reissued in July, 2013 by Addison Weseley), affiliation, and fields of research. As such it is similar to Barry Boehm, or Bertrand Meyer. Camdenmaine (talk) 18:10, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, there's little doubt that Lister is less well-known than Boehm or Meyer. User:Camdenmaine should be aware that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't much of an argument here at AfD - we can delete other stuff too, and we do. Notability comes down to things we can reliably cite: in Boehm's case there's a lot to choose from, and in Lister's there's less. Google Scholar suggests he might be notable as a cited author though it wouldn't be huge. The article currently does itself no favours by providing 3 primary sources (i.e. Lister's own work) which don't prove notability, and 1 to Chris Alexander's work which isn't relevant to Lister's notability either. If Camdenmaine would like to demonstrate "multiple, substantial" mentions of Lister in reliable, independent sources the argument would soon be over. BTW the article on Peopleware: Productive Projects and Teams is indeed at least as AfD-ready as this; a merge of both as suggested by W Nowicki is possible. But we should aim to show notability first. Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:01, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
