Not notable, unreferenced, unclear. Contested PROD. Adabow (talk · contribs) 03:31, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to keep/withdraw this nom now, as I see it has been fixed up quite a bit and actually makes sense. Adabow (talk · contribs) 01:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe the nom didn't understand what this was attempting, because outright deletion is completely uncalled for; it's just a sublist of Māori people by occupation. It just doesn't seem needed as a separate list, however, so prune the redlink names (if appropriate; maybe they all merit articles?) and merge to List of Māori people, probably under the "musicians" header (change that to "musicians and music composers" if wanted). postdlf (talk) 03:56, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can appreciate the nominator's concerns about this page, in its current form. But I note that at least a few of the listed names do, in fact, have sourced biographies here, and I think that this page could serve a valid function as a list relevant to a topic (Category:Māori music) that currently seems to be underdeveloped on Wikipedia. So I lean (weakly) toward keeping this article, but renaming it to List of Māori composers (or alternatively adding the content to List of Māori people as postdlf suggests) and cleaning it up. I agree that the latter parts of the article, referring to unspecified awards, are hard to understand and may need to be deleted if clearer context is not provided.--Arxiloxos (talk) 04:06, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Rename and keep per Arxiloxos's suggestion. Grutness...wha? 04:46, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Rename and keep there are a significant number of notable Māori composers and musicians; certainly enough for a list. I'm thinking that List of Māori musicians may be better than List of Māori composers, unless there are a non-trivial number of composers who aren't also musicians. I'm prepared to do some work I this article and I suspect that other members of Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand/Māori task force will be too. Stuartyeates (talk) 05:20, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note I have removed the redlink entries in the article and have moved it to List of Māori composers. Although, a better title might be List of Māori musicians since it's unclear if some of the people on the list are even composers. (Just from their articles). Rename (as already done) and keep. It is much easier to verify and establish notability for a composer than a musician, so current title is best. dramatic (talk) 21:32, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
