List of fictional firearms[edit]

Short, probably b/c it went through some cleanups - not sufficient, b/c while some discussion on talk determined that we should keep it limited to "notable" entries, I see that about 1/4 of the entries here are redirects to article sections, perhaps b/c the entries ended up being merged/redirected. Anyway, a major concern is that this fails WP:NLIST. No references are presented that show that any reliable source attempted to list all fictional firearms. The best I can find are small comparisons like "phasers vs blasters" etc. I did find [1] but I think it's more relevant to the entry on Raygun then this list. Given the failure of NLIST, I am afraid Category:Science fiction weapons will have to do for now. _{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here} 12:45, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Per WP:CLN a topic can (and often should) exist in multiple forms. Having said that, "firearm" is not used in a sensible way here, that is, a gunpowder-powered projectile thrower, but I did find one possible RS here. I think fictional weapons, especially and sci fi and fantasy, have more commentary than fictional firearms as such. This begs the question: why are phasers and disruptors here rather than in a different sort of fictional list? The fact that so many of the un-pruned entries are for sci-fi weapons rather than good old fashioned kinetic slugthrowers argues against maintaining this in this form. @Jclemens A list of fictional weapons might survive. If it existed, and was written with sources, etc. I am mildly surprised it does not exist. Delete I have to agree that it should be deleted unless it can be proven that the concept of fictional firearms has been discussed in depth by reliable sources.
