I prodded it with the following rationale: "The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirement nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) supplementary essay. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar." It was deprodded with no helpful rationale (despite the fact that I explicitly asked for one in the PROD). At best this can be redirected to Taggart. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:20, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep The nomination, like the prod, provides no specifics about the subject – it's just a bland, generic cut/paste. When one actually searches for information, it's easy to find sources about this iconic character. Our policy WP:ATD therefore applies, "If editing can improve the page, this should be done rather than deleting the page." Andrew🐉(talk) 09:44, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- "easy to find sources about this iconic character". Surely, linking them here is easy too. Please do. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:08, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. Sources such as The i, Glasgow Times, and Famous Detectives establish notability. Definitely room for improvement and better citations in this article. NemesisAT (talk) 22:39, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- The first source contains one sentence of analysis about his homophobia. Interesting, but not WP:SIGCOV. Second story doesn't go beyond a plot summary. As for the last source, it's a plot summary again and I don't see how it is reliable (some old style website created by unknown party about "famous detectives")? - Redirect to Taggart#Cast. Current sources are insufficient to establish notability independent of the parent article. TTN (talk) 17:45, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge/redirect Whether or not the character himself is notable, Taggart is not a long article and could have expansion on the plot/storyline of the series, and per WP:NOPAGE a separate article is not warranted. Reywas92Talk 20:43, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge/redirect to the Taggart article. Articles about characters are typically only appropriate if the character is widely discussed in their own right, which usually only happens if they appear in multiple different works (spinoffs, novelizations, etc.). --RL0919 (talk) 19:36, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect to Taggart#Cast. The sources adequately show notability for the series, not the character. Ifnord (talk) 19:24, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
