I urge anyone considering listing a school for deletion to look at the record I have been compiling: Wikipedia:Watch/schoolwatch/Votes for deletion archive lists every school-related deletion listing since late January. Since April 23 not one single school-related deletion listing, of over 120 in total, has been successful, save one article which was referred as a copyright violation. Few school-related deletion discussions even come close to consensus for deletion. A substantial number end up with a majority vote to keep. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 30 June 2005 22:14 (UTC)

• Merge per Carnildo, to keep the school inclusionists happy... though truthfully, a separate wiki for schools would be a whole lot more useful than turning Wikipedia into a web directory of schools. If a school isn't well-known out of state, or at the center of a national news story, it's not notable enough to receive its own article. Universities are notable because in the job market and academia, they receive much more recognition than schools below them do. Schools below university level should just be mentioned in passing with their city, just as shopping malls, libraries, etc., are.   • Comment. Inclusionists??!! Methinks I might have fallen into some sort of controversy I never heard of before. All I did was find a 1-sentence stub about a non-notable school...To be that seems about as notable as an article that says "Vinnie's car wash is a car wash on 47th Street in Someplace, CA."     • "Inclusionist" is Wikipedia slang for those bent on including every possible scrap of trivia under the heading "knowledge" (as opposed to "deletionists", who are intent on slash-and-burn censorship throughout Wikipedia to leave ignorance and darkness in their wake). Or something like that.
    • Schools seem to touch a particular nerve, whereby people who might argue strenuously against inclusion of people who lack strong evidence of fame, accomplishment, and/or notoriety suddenly , when it comes to schools, confuse Wikipedia with the Special Olympics, where EVERY school is special regardless of its fame, accomplishment, and/or notoriety. --Calton | Talk 1 July 2005 05:37 (UTC)

• Comment Have just redone a part about the Kids Helping Kids Program, which might bring to light some notability for the school. No, I the author will not under any circumstances merge this with the entries for the City of Ottawa, the OCDSB or any other entry WHILE (and I mean while truthfuly here) there are some stubs of high schools in the area (e.g. Bell High School) of whom have less information than this entry and which are allowed to be sitting there freely. The ONLY reason you discriminate against the entry is that you do not believe this school is as worth speaking of as a high school, or even a university. (And Spinboy? Saying it's not really notable for anything, although true, it's in more in how you said it than what you said. e.g. "trust me" That's kinda harsh, don't you think?) Well then, I must say that I have tried my best, and I will leave it up to you all to decide whether to delete the harmless (oh yeah and Ottawa-Related) entry when even the original poster has decided to let it slide.     • Hmm.. there's a thought... making an obviously stubby entry in Wikipedia for a basketball tournament around Ottawa started by one specific school that doesn't have an entry itself. Surely it wouldn't end up getting deleted and you nor any of the nay-sayers on this board would not jump on my back and demand so because of a lack of information. 2005 July 1 21:53 (UTC)
• Comment I started Ottawa-Carleton District School Board specifically for this type of article to avoid VfD debate. It has been reasonably unsuccessful in that, as the overwhelming preference for those writing about schools seems to be to break out school articles despite the threat of deletion.   • The problem is that the district article does nothing to support development there. The only school list is in an article you link where there is a red link for every missing school in the linked article. So many users will just follow that, see nothing and simply add a few words.
