Rename to Death of Garry Hoy per A Thousand Doors (and a thousand windows in that tall building): I just added a summary of the topic to the Defenestration article, although a mention in such an article is necessarily brief. This isn't a case of WP:BLP1E, because he is dead – instead, it's a WP:BIO1E, although similar concepts apply and he is primarily notable only for the manner of his unfortunate demise. Probably the article shouldn't be deleted, because the case has been discussed in many reliable sources, celebrated by a Darwin Award, and re-enacted in several films and television shows and at least one novel. In addition to the sources cited in the article, more are easily found by a web search, and at least one additional example of the event being depicted in fiction is mentioned on the article's Talk page. —BarrelProof (talk) 00:44, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question I've spent (or wasted, depending on your POV) about an hour looking for RS covering this "event". It appears those who have commented thus far agree (as do I) that the bar for WP:EVENT needs to be met. However based upon my research I'm not seeing any coverage that reaches this threshold. Indeed, from WP:EVENT in part reads (emphasis added by me) Routine kinds of news events (including most crimes, accidents, deaths, celebrity or political news, "shock" news, stories lacking lasting value such as "water cooler stories," and viral phenomena) – whether or not tragic or widely reported at the time – are usually not notable unless something further gives them additional enduring significance. To me, this clearly falls (no pun intended) into "shock" news sort of event with no enduring significance. Pretty much every source out there treats this like weird-news. Can anyone find sources that establish that this event is notable? If so, I'd be perfectly happy to move the article to "The death of Garry Hoy" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Which Hazel? Speedy keep To nominator: BLP1E doesn't apply to dead people, even if the event occurred while the person is alive. That would mean virtually every WP:BIO1E has BLP issues. Hoy's death has been covered, repeatedly, in media around the world for years: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6].
