Verkhneuralsky District (Russian: Верхнеура́льский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia.[1] It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,510 square kilometers (1,360 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Verkhneuralsk.[1] Population: 36,198 (2010 Russian census);[3] 42,121 (2002 Census);[7] 44,470 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Verkhneuralsk accounts for 26.1% of the district's total population.[3]
