Vella Raja (lit. 'White King') is a 2018 Indian Tamil language drama thriller web series.[1] It is hosted by Amazon Prime Video, an internet video on demand digital distribution platform.[2] The web series is directed by Guhan Seniappan and produced by S. R. Prabhu under the production banner Dream Warrior Pictures.[3] This is also the first Tamil Amazon Original web series which also has been dubbed in both Hindi and Tamil languages.[4] The web series was released on the streaming platform Amazon Original on 7 December 2018 and received mixed reviews from the audience.[5] It stars Bobby Simha in the main lead role who also made his web series debut through this series while Parvatii Nair and Kaali Venkat play pivotal roles in the series.[6]

Plot

Vella Raja revolves around the lives of characters who land up in trouble while staying at a lodge. How Deva saves himself without getting caught by the police and his rivals forms the rest of the story.

Production

This was the first Tamil web series developed by Amazon original.[7] The official teaser of the film was released on 5 December 2018.[8]

The soundtrack for the web film is composed by Vishal Chandrasekhar.

Reception

Ashameera Aiyappan of The New Indian Express rated the series 2.5 out of 5, praising its premise but saying it "lacks punch".[9]
