Hello Worm That Turned. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Michael Carroll (Rugby Player), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:03, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the positive and helpful reply of the other day, and the amount of effort you went to in finding a good solution to my cry for help. The table plus a multi-dot map is a much better idea - I had failed to spot how to do that. Like you say - more work, but then so is most of the stuff that makes a page better. I am still struggling to get it to do what I now want, (eg a numbered label matching a number on the table, but with the wood name and wiki link when you hover over a dot). What I get from the location map~ settings is either a number both times, or the text both times, which will overwrite other dots (ie alt= doesn't seem to work, at least not the way I expect). I am trying to find time to get Oxfordshire fully populated, and then could run it past the map workshop to see if it can be tweaked. Thanks again for your interest. RobinLeicester (talk) 23:24, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
In this edit you added the sentence -- "The biscuits became a treat that young men from the middle or lower classes would buy as a treat for their beau." Do you mean girlfriends or sweethearts? Beau is gender specific, applied to males. You gave two refs but I couldn't find the relevance in either (and the link goes to a disamb page too). Moriori (talk) 04:07, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Hello Worm That Turned. I know I've been bothering you much, but you've shown to be a great newcomer helper and I have already made my userpage at least 10x better than previously with your help. I have two images on my userpage that get pushed under my userboxes when my userpage is viewed with a non-widescreen display. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Thanks, —Rsteilberg talk 22:36, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
Kudpung has asked me to 'nudge' some people .. as I'm an idle get, I'm just going through the entire Task Force list so my apologies if you didn't need a nudge! You can slap me about over on WP:EfD if you like :o) Straw polling various options: over here - please add views, agree with views, all that usual stuff.
We also need volunteers for the Clerking idea soon. I've been either gutsy or foolhardy, and said I'd be happy to do this as wing-man with someone more qualified and experienced; are you happy to give Clerking a go? The think will not work unless we can find suitable volunteers, lol! Come over to this bit here and add yourself. Please! I'm getting lonely over there ……. lol! On 18 April 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Cornish fairings, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that traditional Cornish fairings were sold at fairs for young men to give to their sweethearts? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

I was told by User:Simple Bob, that maybe you could adopt me. [Redacted] and I already have been on Wikipedia for 2.5 years. I am already quite experienced (I made almost 2,500 edits), but many articles get nominated for deletion. I also seem to have problems with some users and maybe if you would adopt me together we could help it. Please reply to my talk page. Thanks. '''Adam mugliston''' (talk) 09:54, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi WormTT, I am sorry to trouble you but will you please tell Jenova to put a lid on his attitude problem? I know I shouldn't keep responding to him. But he is very difficult to ignore when he keeps going on talk pages and insutling me and attacking me hurling accusations at me. I find his language very offensive accusing me of 'harassment' and 'stalking', there is no need for such abusive language. I admit we are both in the wrong on occasions but he refuses to admit he has an attitude problem. I was perfectly happy to have a civilised chat with him as you suggested but he come on tonight and very aggressively attacked me again hurling unfounded accusations at me. When he is willing to admit he has a bad attitude and wants to put it right, I will let it drop. I am sorry to keep dragging you into this but you seem to let him get away with it. I am not going to respond to him anymore but will you please tell him to stop insulting me? I would be grateful for your help and I would consider this the end of the matter. Hi Worm.A lot of the discussion is still about telling us what is wrong with RfA. We all know what is wrong already, and the project needs to be kept free of endless perennial talk. The project needs to be prevented from being turned into the new venue for WT:RfA which is now practically devoid of customers. Changing pubs is great, but moving a pub to the office is not such a good idea. It would be great if participants (and they are of course not all task force members) would focus on the main issues and help move them forward. Unfortunately, only a handful of task force members seem to be participating and I'm beginning to wonder if some of them have not fully understood the objectives of a work group like this, especially when some of them are now going off at half-tack and starting their own central RfC on topic like clerks, etc. This is a sure fire way to ensure that reform will never succeed. I have limited Internet access for the next few days, could you keep a close eye on the new posts and intervene if possible to chivvy things along, and perhaps consider adding yourself to the list of coordinators? --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:29, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Round 2 of the 2011 WikiCup is over, and the new round will begin on 1 May. Note that any points scored in the interim (that is, for content promoted or reviews completed on 29-30 April) can be claimed in the next round, but please do not start updating your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. Fewer than a quarter of our original contestants remain; 32 enter round 3, and, in two months' time, only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Casliber (submissions), who led Pool F, was our round champion, with 411 points, while 7 contestants scored between 200 and 300 points. At the other end of the scale, a score of 41 was high enough to reach round 3; more than five times the score required to reach round 2, and competition will no doubt become tighter now we're approaching the later rounds. Those progressing to round 3 were spread fairly evenly across the pools; 4 progressed from each of pools A, B, E and H, while 3 progressed from both pools C and F. Pools D and G were the most successful; each had 5 contestants advancing.
This round saw our first good topic points this year; congratulations to Hurricanehink (submissions) and Nergaal (submissions) who also led pool H and pool B respectively. However, there remain content types for which no points have yet been scored; featured sounds, featured portals and featured topics. In addition to prizes for leaderboard positions, the WikiCup awards other prizes; for instance, last year, a prize was awarded to Candlewicke (submissions) (who has been eliminated) for his work on In The News. For this reason, working on more unusual content could be even more rewarding than usual!
Sorry this newsletter is going out a little earlier than expected- there is a busy weekend coming up! A running total of claims can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! Thanks Worm for joining in as a coord. Things have slowed down a bit, but that's to be expected. Nevertheless, it's already the biggest ever RfA reform project of its kind and it would be a shame to lose ground. What needs to be done is to get the task force into sub groups to start writing some rough drafts for some of the proposals for which there is some kind of consensus.
We don't need constantly telling what's wrong with RfA, we know all that already, that's why we're here. We're the ones who are going to try and fix it, so I've been quite radical by collapsing or archiving some off-topic negative criticisms of the project. It's not endearing me to people, but if they can't behave on RfA or other discussions, there's no reason to allow them to disrupt the process of reform. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:46, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

We're half way through round 3 of the 2011 WikiCup. There are currently 32 remaining in the competition, but only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Casliber (submissions), of pool D, is our overall leader with nearly 200 points, while pools A, B and C are led by Racepacket (submissions), Hurricanehink (submissions) and Canada Hky (submissions) respectively. The score required to reach the next round is 35, though this will no doubt go up significantly as the round progresses. We have a good number of high scorers, but also a considerable number who are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. Also, an important note concerning nominations at featured article candidates: if you are nominating content for which you intend to claim WikiCup points, please make this clear in the nomination statement so that the FAC director and his delegates are aware of the fact.

Other than exams, I have that stupid annoying phase that has currently taken over me, Procrastination... :| I will make a start on it, even if It takes me till 2012 to complete it. Thank You Worm, for making it, and for your patience ;) -- MelbourneStar☆ (talk to me) 10:23, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Dear Worm, I became inactive because I think my edits and contributions should be at par witk the standards of wikipedia. I feel that I need a mentor rather a coach who can make me improve my edits. I requested some editors after keenly observing their work. I was delighted to view your reply, though It was rejection. I would like to place a fresh adoption request. Dear Worm, I would like to thank you for prompt reply. I just need you to randomly audit edits/contributions made by me so that I can start my work again. I would like you to view any new page that I develop in my sandbox before publishing on Wikipedia.Arshan.abbas (talk) 15:32, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
I've finished the practical part of the final test. Do you mark it now, or all at the end? Rcsprinter (talk) 20:56, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
I've left you a message, thanks Jenova20 11:48, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Dear Worm That Turned. Thank you for your adoption offer on my user talkpage. Yes it is still active, I added it a couple of months ago and you are the first person to respond. Firstly, let me introduce myself. I am from the United Kingdom originally, although I left in 2003 and have been living in various countries since then, (mainly Japan), throughout Asia. Although I joined Wikipedia as a registered user in 2007, I didn't really become active until 2009. Since then I have around 2,500 edits, mainly to Gastropod and Ship articles, although I have interests in many areas, especially scientific. Although I am clearly not a complete beginner to Wikipedia, most of my contributions have been on the content side, and hence there are many areas of Wikipedia that are completely unfamiliar to me, and I know nothing about. This is part of my reasoning for seeking adoption from a more experienced user who has familiarity with these areas. For example, as you can see, I only have 16 edits to the Wikipedia Main namespace. I am interested in becoming more familiar with WP policy, and getting involved behind the scenes so to speak, more involved with the underpinnings that keep WP going among other areas. I have looked at your history, your adoption school, and the interaction that you have had between your current and past adoptees, and I can see that you take adoption seriously and that you are regularly active on WP. I also see that with your structured lessons and tests, you provide an opportunity for your adoptees to learn in a wide range of WP areas. This is just what I am looking for. I tend to edit mainly in the evenings in my time-zone, which is in the daytime in the UK, so we may be online at similar times which is an added benefit. If you are still happy to accept me for adoption, I would be very grateful indeed. I should add that until the second week in July, I will be less active than usual due to work commitments, but that after that time I will be back to usual. You can get an idea of my typical activity level at my month count indicator. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely yours, Antarctic-adventurer (talk) 13:51, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
