July 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Woodroar (talk) 12:26, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AFDs[edit]

Hello, TandyTRS80,

You've been editing for about a month and AFD deletion discussions are not a welcoming place to learn about Wikipedia policies and guidelines. To be a thoughtful participant in deletion discussions you should have substantial editing experience on the project and a thorough knowledge of Wikipedia's policies especially on all types of notability and reliable sourcing. Things can get personal and tense in deletion discussions and I wouldn't want a bad experience there to put you off from contributing to the project. I encourage you to work on improving existing articles and after you have acquired some more weeks or months of editing on regular articles, then dip your toe into administrative areas like deletion discussions and noticeboard conversations. You'll be more respected by your fellow editors and your opinion will carry more weight if you have demonstrated you understand editing before putting yourself in the position of judging the work of other editors.

If you have questions about this or deletion discussions or Wikipedia guidelines, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 23:07, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
