Speedy deletion of List of WASHIS[edit]

A tag has been placed on List of WASHIS requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding ((hangon)) to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. WASHIS[edit]

I've never heard of them, but I don't live in Wales; Google doesn't seem to reveal the term as much used either. You need to add some references to any books or journal articles which refer to them (not necessarily online, if they're books on your shelves and you can cite the ISBN to authenticate). In your addition to Hill lists in the British Isles you mention "the popular Welsh 15 Peaks": is that a list which needs a mention? Presumably it means Welsh peaks above 1500m, but you don't say so and that list isn't mentioned. Good luck in your Wikipedia editing. PamD (talk) 06:51, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hints[edit]

First thing to do is to put the table of WASHIS up on your own website in simple HTML. So far I have seen these links: http://www.walkeryri.org.uk/articles.htm , http://www.lilnick.co.uk/node/32 and http://www.walkeryri.org.uk/files/washis.pdf . Two of them do not point to the table and the third is a PDF link - which nobody likes. Make sure that every grid ref is a link thus: SH609543 [my vanity!].

Then publicise the idea. As far as Wikipedia goes, do not try to make a new article but promote yourself more sneakily via comments on relevant Talk: pages. If the idea catches on, someone else will write the article for you. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 18:31, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you prefer HTML, feel free to copy&paste your code to this wiki. It will not get deleted and I will link the grid refs for you. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 05:17, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
