Hey, Thanks for your comments. I understand how you may view Roofio as un-important, however as a school sport, and one which we hope will - one day - be widely played throughout, perhaps, the world, we feel that Roofio is deservant of a place on Wikipedia. The school website is to be updated this week to include a Roofio section. Thanks for your time, Roofio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by King's Roofio (talk • contribs) 17:33, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Hey , Passportguy. I was wondering why my Noleade oage is being deleted. Thanks. GatorSlayerFSU (talk) 19:52, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
hello passportguy: i just received news that the article i am preparing on chip zdarsky is being recommended for deletion by you. I see that you have concerns because the person in question has given himself a death date (which i did not reproduce for wikipedia because that is part of the chip zdarsky sense of humour, and not a fact. i assure you that he is significant and real. the newspaper column is active and receives a lot of traffic. Wiki leedetailed
hmmmm. can you please clarify? are you suggesting i should list him as Steve Murray? And not Chip Zdarsky? Todd Diamond is one of his characters. Steve Murray is his birth name but he goes by Chip Zdarsky creatively. I'm not sure what the unlikely assertions are. Wiki leedetailed (talk) 20:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Wiki leedetailed
wow. okay. it's not a hoax but i will start by changing the article title to Steve Murray, and going from there. This is my first article, and I had hoped to help flesh out the area around Toronto comic artists who i thought were worthy of notation. Colleagues of his including Kagan McLeod, and Cameron Stewart who I referenced are listed, and his association with one of Canada's national newspapers is quite well known. Wiki leedetailed (talk) 20:41, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Wiki leedetailed
thank you very much. i appreciate that, and will work to improve the article. i did wonder about changing the name to his real name though, after all that. if you are known by your character name, say in the example of "Carrot Top" would you really list that person under their real name (for the record i don't know "CarrotTop"'s real name...) is there a rule about this? again, sorry for my first foray's lack of finesse. :) Wiki leedetailed (talk) 20:50, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Wiki leedetailed
hello passport guy: just saw i got a new message from you regarding sock puppeting. i have not engaged in this, but i appreciate your warning to that effect. i have one computer and no access to other IP addresses. i did let some friends know i was working on a chip zdarsky article for wikipedia but that it might not be approved so perhaps one of them quibbled in his favour. people are passionate about chip zdarsky in toronto. i have been working hard to fulfill the requirements of notability for the article. thanks for your help. Just a note that it wasn't me who erased the notice, as I am quite willing to listen to (and waiting for) a reasonable argument for it being deleted on something more concrete than subjectivity. The person who removed was Angelique.luff, as is clearly written in the history: 22:06, 1 June 2009 Angelique.luff (talk | contribs) (2,915 bytes) (undo) (Tag: speedy deletion template removed) I am patiently awaiting a reply.--TheJF (talk) 22:18, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I have (a) deleted the article for making no assertion of importance or significance (references would have been nice too, of course); (b) blocked three accounts that were created whilst all this was going on - v. suspicious' (c) not blocked TheJF (talk · contribs), assuming good faith, or Refreshingapathy (talk · contribs), although I am surprised that the latter showed up having not edited since an only previous edit in 2006(!) whilst all this was going on. If you wish to take this further, try WP:SPI. Regards, BencherliteTalk 22:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi Passportguy, I understand you have to maintain Wikipedia's credibility and cleanliness, I am the writer of the Guards on Duty article, and I understand that you may think it is "non notable," for it is a smaller site. But I believe all sites start somewhere and cannot always contribute or be nationally recognized without gaining some ground first. The site aforementioned offers insight into various medias and personal reviews. Whatever you decide is fine, but if you do decide to delete it, I would like it to be userfied, or whatever the term was, to my talk page and/or emailed to me. Thank you, Bill —Preceding unsigned comment added by Billcheese1 (talk • contribs) 00:44, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Passport Guy, If you are referring to the risk of people editing the page then I understand the concern. I do however feel that having a simple General Info section of the Company does not violate any regulations, simply just personal concerns for the individual posting. I do feel that because it does not violate any of the usual concerns when posting a company, such as marketing and advertising, that it should be allowed to stay, without the speedy deletion banner on the top. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swain Ian (talk • contribs)
Sorry, can you delete this page please? —Preceding undated comment added 15:17, 2 June 2009 (UTC).
Hi, this is my first time creating pages, I got a speedy delete request for a theme camp that I am involved in for Burning Man and a page I made about myself was deleted. I have started these pages to get my other camp members going on creating a good page with links to our members and what we have contributed to Burning Man. Can I get some clarification? Thanks!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I know, the page is going to be under construction by our 30 plus members stating why the camp is important at Burning Man and kinda shed light as to what a theme camp is and what they do at the event. Is creating personal pages for the members not allowed? The whole process should take a week or so to get the page where it needs to be. I already sent an email out to all our members so they can edit it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:29, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
No, the page is not for members, it is for everyone, I was refering to the individual page for me as a member of Welcome Camp. We are going on our second year as an Registered Theme Camp at the Burning Man event that has participants from around the world who we interact with at our events. I was hoping to eventually link from the Burning Man page and get other established theme camps to participate in the education of people that might be thinkning of coming to burning man and see what the main focus of the event is, the creation of camps and activities by the actual participants, not the organization. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Non-commercial organizations Shortcut: WP:CLUB Organizations are usually notable if they meet both of the following standards:
The scope of their activities is national or international in scale.---Our camp is at an international event and during the week we have thousands of visitors to our camp to participate in various activities.
Information about the organization and its activities can be verified by third-party, independent, reliable sources. (In other words, they must satisfy the primary criterion for all organizations as described above.)---This camp can be verified on Burning Mans website in the description and links to the Theme camps that are registered and participate in the event.
Individual chapters of national and international organizations are usually not notable enough to warrant a separate article unless sufficient notability is established through reliable sources that extend beyond the organization's local area.--Although we are mostly local, we gain members every year that come back and participate and spread the word of our camp through the 60,000 participants.
The organization’s longevity, size of membership, or major achievements, or other factors specific to the organization may be considered. This list is not exhaustive and not conclusive. ---Our Camp is three years old at Burning Man and the size has grown from 10 to 50 members in that time. Our placement at Burning Man helped us interact, entertain and participate with thousands of people from all over the world.
Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
We do not have 50,000 (the participants were just under 50,000, not 60,000, my bad) members, Burning Man has 50,000 participants from all over the world. Thier website and wiki site sites these things. On the wiki page specifically there is a section on theme camps seen here
Villages and theme camps Villages and theme camps are located along the innermost streets of Black Rock City, often offering entertainment or a service to participants.[50].
Theme camps are usually a collective of people representing themselves under a single identity. Villages are usually a collection of smaller theme camps which have banded together in order to share resources and vie for better placement.
Theme camps and villages often form to create an atmosphere in the Black Rock City that their group envisioned. As Burning Man grows every year and attracts an even more diverse crowd theme camps are Black Rock City's own subcultures similar to what can be found in every other city.
As for the international aspect on www.burningman.com they have a census here http://afterburn.burningman.com/07/census/index.html Our placement near the open playa enabled us to meet thousands of people from all over the globe and we influanced thier experience at burning man which they remember and would look to wikipedia and the burning man site for detailed information about our camp. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 18:00, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
We actually do not work with Burning Man, we are allowed to have a camp that is recognized because of our influance on the 50,000 participants. We have recieved recognition from Burning Man because we abide by thier standards seen here http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/. They have strict standards and we have met them to become an important part of the event. A specific quote is "The understanding that Theme Camps truly are the fabric of Burning Man is now common knowledge. It is a responsibility and takes commitment. Remember that what YOU do helps to create what this year IS!" We prescribe to this and we feel that we are as important to participants experience as any other part of the event is. We have influanced a large percentage of the 50,000 participants just like a 3 person band entertains thousands of fans. Just because there are only three members does not mean they are not notable, or the fact that they are signed with a record label does not make them notable, its the fans that participate in thier concerts and the sales of the cds that make them notable. The participants of Burning Man are not our fans, but they search us out on the map as a pivotal part of thier experience which, I feel makes us notable with that large percentage of the 50,000 people year after year and gains us the recognition of the Burning Man organization. Thanks!RACESV (talk) 18:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I think we can do that, we have pictures of the murals that participants have created at our camp, pictures of events we hold, emails from participants that felt they needed to contact us about the experience with us, a copy of the burning man map with our theme camp placement illustrated, the links to our camp from the burning man site, our approved theme camp questionaire. Would those be enough to show the influance on the experience of the participants? As I stated before, this would take about a week to create on wiki. I was just getting us started. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 18:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I guess I don't understand how if Burning Man, which has a page, recognizes Welcome Camp as influential enough to repeatedly give us placement as an important part of thier event and the feedback and participation of a large percentage of the 50,000 participants means hypotetical influance. I feel that many of the participants of burning man would appreciate a history of something that was a large part of a large part (Burning Man) of thier lives is. Its not just our camp that I like, I like as I assume alot of other burners would like, a history of many of the large theme camps are that participate at burning man is. I am just trying to give them that and hopefully get other camps that continue to make the event what it is, the oppertunity to do the same. I don't know how else to prove that this theme camps and other specific theme camps is Burning Man and that many camps influance the experience like we do and should be noted on the Burning Man wiki page and have thier own page because of the interest of the thousands of participants in the history and activites that the camps have. I appreciate your time to hear my views. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 18:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Passportguy, Thanks for the welcome, so obvious i'm new to this. A page I just created was nominated for deletion. This happened before, and I am still confused as to why this is the case. The article is about a physicist who has presented a revolutionary new mathematical describtion of a theory in a huge area of physics (condensesd matter physics). I really do not understand how this cannot be accepeted by wikipedia. I hate to say it, but I cannot help feel that some of the issues are arising due to matters with ethnicity and background. If this was an American physicist there would be no issue. If it is simply because I have failed to put across the imprortance in my writing then that is my fault, but I do not beleive that is a reason for deletion. It takes a lot of time and effort to write out these mathematical formulae and it's aggravating to see it deleted without consideration. Please explain what I can do to avoid what I now see as an unavoidable conclusion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anterior1 (talk • contribs) 14:35, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
No, I met the person when he was a visiting academic to Edinburgh University. I thought his lecture was very interesting so I read the papers he had published (in the journals listed and papers presented on the day). Believe me, I have tried to find good references of his existence, but it is really difficult. Because he is not employed by a university directly, I cannot find him in the university archives. The only things I have been able to find so far are the journals and the other references listed. Anterior1 (talk) 14:48, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure I agree with the first part of that, many people make contributions to science when they are funded - but not directly employed - by a university to do research. He was employed to do it on behalf of them, with the PIP involved as well. As for the otehr parts, I listed some of the papers he has published, but I am currently looking for others. I only created the page again yesterday. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anterior1 (talk • contribs) 14:59, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

This is totally ridiculous. I have no faith in wikipedia and it's contributors anymore. As I speak some giant Wikipedia enforcment officers head is popping out of the right hand of the screen to remind that democracy does not exist on this internet site. The visa is not required. What you posted, the FAQ of Andorra is only a notice for travelers that they cannot reach Andorra without obtaining visas for the EU but the Andorran Govt is not the one who is asking for it. It is only a notice that even though visas are not needed for Andorra, you need the EU visa to reach Andorra as it is surrounded by EU countries. As you can see here [3] there are some passport exemptions that relate to France and Spain but it's not related to the issue of visas. If you would take off from Serbia in a helicopter and land in Andorra you would not requite the Schengen visa. That is the whole point. De facto matter that 99,9% of visitors will require the Schengen visa is irrelevant as we are looking for de jure information. I will add the third reference, the one supplied by you, which should explain this.--Avala (talk) 14:43, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
How don't you understand that Andorran officials do not require Schengen visa but that it is de facto needed because you need to cross the Spanish or French border to get there (Although no visa requirements exist, apply the relevant regulations of France or Spain, whichever must be transited to reach Andorra.)? It's so damn simple.--Avala (talk) 15:51, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
PPG, A colleague of mine received notice of a speedy deletion for this article submission, for failure to meet the notability guidelines for organizations. I reviewed the guidelines, and believe they meet the criteria: [x+1] has been the subject of significant coverage - I can provide as many examples as you require. "Significant" sounds somewhat subjective, is this quantified in any way? Also, the submission does not include advertising/promotion language, but simply explains the company, its history and what it does.
Also notable is the fact that they alone among their competitors have been awarded a patent for their ad targeting technology. Speaking of competitors, Phorm, ValueClick and Doubleclick all have Wikipedia articles, and are no more notable than [x+1].
Please let me know what our next steps should be.
Best,

Did anyone already say: "Nice work on the cyprus geo stubs"? If not, allow me to be the first :) Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 18:04, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
I would thank you if you could take the time to add an infobox and find the coordinates like I've done to Latchi. I'm trying to ensure all settlements worldwide have a map and your stubs without infoboxes are making it hard for me. ALl you have to do is copy the infobox each time and just change the relative municipality/district and googke for coordinates e.g google Lachi Cyprus coordinates. It will make your stubs much better and help users understand where they are, Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:18, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
There is should be no reason why you can't add an infobox. COordinates can be found on a lot of sites and even if you can't find them you can still add an infobox. It just makes life easier for people later as the stubs develop. With a map at least these sub stubs have some value. If I was doing Cypriot villages I would use Maplandia and work throught each area. I'd probably create templates for settlement/topics for each district and red link the settlements and then work through them that way (using the coordinates directly from that site). For instance all the villages in Nicosia DIstrict can be found in an A-Z here. I'd copy the names into a template and red link them and then work through by area. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
You can add settlements from the link I gave you to the above template. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Ampelikou is how these should be started. It saves a great deal of work for other editors later to find references and clean them up. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah some of the transliterations may be off but the coordinates should be completely correct. If I have time later I'll copy the villages into the Nicosia district template. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:57, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
It's probably best you start them first to find the coordinates from Mpalandia and then move the title to the correct one. This way we should have infoboxes/coordinates for all the settlements and also have the correct spellings.
Population data would make another decent edition. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
The goal eventually will be to ge them looking like Evrychou! OK I've added the template up to E. Can you work through them adding the infoboxes and templates to the foot of the articles then. When you finished Nicosia District give me a bell and I'll help make templates for Larnaca district etc. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:28, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I would suggest by district. I'll create some new ones now (oh you;ve done it nice work!. We also have Template:Paphos District. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Great you are extremely well travelled. You seem to share my interests in the world. I wondered if you had any photpgraphs of places like Turkmenistan etc that you might upload to the commons. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:17, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

All you have to do is copy and paste the villages wiki linked from your list and paste them into where it says list1. ALl you have to do then is add the divider ( · ) between each village as I've done with Nicosia. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:39, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Nice progress! Are you interested in working on any other countries when you finish? Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:31, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

But do we know that it's a derivative work? Keep in mind that only the creative elements of a map are eligible for copyright. – Quadell (talk) 13:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
These are based on maps publsihed by the Cyprus government. If you look at the map closely, you will notice that they are an exact copy. Neo deleted all the place names are replaced them with alternate spellings as he doesn't like the new way of transcibation that has ben around for a decade or so). While he deleted all place names, he didn't reaplce all of them, so you have a lot of yellow points where there is no no correspoinding name. In addition he made a few minor other adjusments. All of this is clearly an infringement of copyright. You cannot take anyones work without permission, modify it and publish it as your own. Passportguy (talk) 14:05, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

You, Passportguy, deleted the official informations related with the cities Lapithos, Morphou, Lefkoniko, Lefka. You deleted 1. The references to the cities' Official Municipality. 2. The emblems of Municipalities of these cities. 3. The Mayors' names of these cities. 4. Link of OFFICIAL websites of the municipalities of these cities. Any constructive contribution of you is welcome. Otherwise, as you know, it is in the scope of Vandalism. WhereIsApple (talk) 21:50, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the reverts Passportguy. Hopefully, eventually, he'll get bored with being banned and we'll stop having to extend the sock drawer. - Peripitus (Talk) 22:45, 18 June 2009 (UTC) I noticed your work to Outline of Cyprus. Nicely done. Please consider joining WP:WPOOK. The Transhumanist 23:55, 18 June 2009 (UTC) Deletion of SWARL page at June 6I know you did not actually delete SWARL article but you have suggested it. I'm trying to understand the reasons for it. ARRL article was not deleted and it's content wasnt suggested to merge into Amateur Radio but it happened to us. I feel like I have to explain the situation around SWARL: There was a SWARL Yahoo group and the informational website that comes up at first if you make search for SWARL in google. Both of those have been created by Steve Carter who passed it on to the crew with Marshall Cubitt (I'm member of this crew - Yury Bondarenko, you can see the full list of the crew at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SWARL/ and the URL of our site there too, which is http://swarl.org) SWARL Yahoo group is one of the largest groups on this topic, and the site swarl.org contains supporting information (read: club information) According to Steve Carter, he does not have access to the old site of SWARL and he tried to convince hoster of it to remove content of it, but with no success. So, SWARL has desided to start a new site http://swarl.org , it is very new site and there are not many links to it yet, but we are working on links corrections. The article about SWARL on Wikipedia was containing the most important info about our club and we would really like to restore it. If we need to correct our article in any way, please inform me. I could see there is an article about ARRL and our club is no lesser importance to SWLs in the world as ARRL to American HAMs. There are only three organizations left in the world that issue international SWL call signs and keep track of them. We have got 794 SWL call signs issued and this number increases every day. There is a big interest in SWLing among people who has receiver. Well I hope I didnt take too much of your time by this explanation and really hope to get our article on Wikipedia back. Brack11 (talk) 20:35, 19 June 2009 (UTC) TalkbackHello, Passportguy. I have no way of knowing whether semicolon is a sockpuppet, but the edits do not appear to be outright vandalism. Enigmamsg 00:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
UK PassportThank you for pointing this out, however, it goes on to say that a Value Added Licence is needed. Something that point 15 of this explains can be obtained for a cost of £50. I'm can't imagine we have this license so we should not be displaying this image where it doesn't meet NFCC. I haven't undone your edit, and will wait for a response and/or self-revert. Swiss visa policyIn response to your comment - "After 90 days citizens of BZ/BNJP/SG may apply for a residency permit without having to leave the country, but the stay of a regular tourist is limited to 90 days" - you should go to [6] and compare the difference between the visa entry requirements for Annex II citizens such as US and Canadian citizens with the comments for Bruneian, Japanese, New Zealand and Singaporean citizens. Let me know what you think please! Bonus bon (talk) 19:12, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
PassportGuy, your hard work makes me happy.I have been working on an animation that uses the visa/visa upon arrival maps you created, they are great. Do you have the same information in spreadsheet form? it would be a huge help and would make comparing information easy.Argogi (talk) 14:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
