Hi, is it really the wrong word? Tony (talk) 00:50, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi Tony1, Well, a person can be recognised posthumously but a book never dies so how can it be post-humous? (kteachk (talk) 01:21, 26 August 2011 (UTC))
Hi again, having looked up the Oxford English Dictionary (online if you can access it) all uses relate to the person and events that occur after death, including the birth of children. While literary or other works can be regarded as posthumous, they are referred to in that way because they were published, discovered, or made available after the death of the author, not because they were recognised in some way after the author's death. It may be hair-splitting but I still think the usage is incorrect. Thanks for the tip on the film. I'll look out for it. [←kteachk also?]
White's novel The Vivisector received posthumous recognition in 2010 when it was shortlisted for the Lost Man Booker Prize for 1970.
White received posthumous recognition for his novel The Vivisector, which in 2010 was shortlisted for the Lost Man Booker Prize for 1970.
Hi there, Thanks for the interesting discussion! And the tip on using GB to search for phrasing in this sort of instance. I'll deploy that in future. I think the "sound alternative" suggestion from Noetica (hello) is entirely correct. It gives White the posthumous recognition rather than the book. It's a shame it didn't win - brilliant novel. (kteachk (talk) 08:48, 26 August 2011 (UTC))
I'd like to invite you to participate Wikimedians to the Games :) It is a great opportunity to help improve Australian related content, and potentially to travel to attend the second biggest sporting event of the year. As you're an existing Wikipedian editor, you should have some advantage because you should know how to contribute and improve articles already. :) If you get to a certain point threshold, there is also a possiblity to travel to Canberra to attend a workshop at the Australian Institute of Sport. --LauraHale (talk) 10:08, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Hi. When you recently edited Andrew McMillan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Darwin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi KteachK,
You need to provide a citation to verify this persons death per Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Please see wp:Citing sources for how to do this. You may have the "Cite" button available on the right end of the edit toolbar, this makes the task a lot easier. Regards 220 of Borg
Thanks Borg. I've fixed that.

In case your students are having difficulty deciding or would like some suggestion for selecting a topic to write about, I wanted to provide two links for you. If you didn't know WikiProject Queensland has a requested article list and WikiProject Australia has a larger to-do list. - Shiftchange (talk) 01:18, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited George Landen Dann, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sunshine Coast (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
