Fixing vandalism

High-profile pages like "Algebra" are messed up every day. When fixing obvious vandalism, you aren't obliged to explain on the talk page — just do it. You can put "rvv" (reverting vandalism) in the edit-summary box. Xanthoxyl 09:48, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging of Boom! (TV series)[edit]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Boom! (TV series). I do not think that Boom! (TV series) fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because ther is very little conteNt here, but there is pleanty of conteXt. That is, any reader knows what the article is about, and knows or has a good idea of where to look for more info to exapnd the article. ther may be issues with notability, adn at the moment no reliable sources are cited, but thsi has context and either should be allowed to grow, or else deleted via afd or perhaps ((prod)), not speedy, IMO. I request that you consider not re-tagging Boom! (TV series) for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 22:28, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007[edit]

It's not vandalism because it will exist in the future. But i suppose you percieve reality differently than i do. I apologize, i had no ill will. --TheWhiteRabbitt

Sup, dude. I think you have me confused with the other user, IP: 68.38.248.208

Look at the history again: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Randy_Saaf&action=history

If you note my description: (removed ", but I still enjoy being a fucking scumbag")

"removed" being the keyword there. Thanks.

Sorry dude - my bad. Will clean it up. Jddphd 00:57, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism report at AIV[edit]

Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. In this case it's because 67.134.156.199 didn't vandalize after the warning from today. Since IPs change, we don't block unless IP vandalism was recent (last 12-24 hours). Anyway, thanks again for your counter-vandalism efforts. Drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. Cheers!--Chaser - T 02:37, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox NFLactive[edit]

I protected the page for an hour and reverted to the version that wasn't messed up. Thanks for the heads-up! NawlinWiki 17:01, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

Hey, I responded to your comments on my talk page. I certainly don't want to drag you in, but I thought you'd want a response. Thanks for your time. Jmfangio| ►Chat  19:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pro Bowl links issue[edit]

This was the biggest issue about the NFL infobox template. For what I would consider a pretty sound argument (as in it can be backed up with facts from the best sources), see my last two comments at: Template_talk:Infobox_NFLactive#WP:3O_request.►Chris Nelson 20:06, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wtf?►Chris Nelson 20:11, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I presume you mean my warning myself about 3RR? ;-) I was testing the template! Thanks for pointing that out! I will have a look at the Pro Bowl thing. Jddphd 20:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Any suggestions? He refuses to offer any sort of compromise between his side of the issue and the other. He has now moved back to wanting more changes to this without getting through one issue at a time. I really don't know what else to do but go back and just revert the content from the infoboxes. But he'll surely engage in another edit war with me over that. Jmfangio| ►Chat  03:49, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds like vandalism to me. It's like you're allowed to "take things away from me" and the infobox because we disagree.►Chris Nelson 03:50, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have a possible solution - I've posted it on the Talk page. If that doesn't work then I don't know what to do. Jddphd 05:17, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your attempts to help, but when one person is mistaken there is never going to be any resolution. Don't worry about it. He'll just have to learn to live with the right way.►Chris Nelson 22:34, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can't say I didn't fly off the handle a bit. Maybe I damaged things permanently. But that still doesn't change the fact that he's wrong on the issue, and that's why I won't discuss it further. Asking him to help me make the template was a gigantic mistake.►Chris Nelson 22:44, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admin help needed[edit]

((helpme))

I think I messed up a report of a suspected sockpuppet. The suspected puppet is Bob Lee Swagger, the puppeteer is MadeinFinland. Can someone tell me what to do or whom to contact?

The page is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets/Bob_Lee_Swagger

Wow![edit]

Thanks so much for the Barnstar! What a great surprise...! The article still needs quite a bit of work, but I'm so glad to know that I made a difference and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness... – Dreadstar 23:40, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did it because you spent a lot of time on a little piece of crap article that looked to be little more than an ad and made it actually something that was encyclopedic. In this case it wasn't the quantity or even the quality of the work (not that it wasn't good), but just the simple idea that you were bothered enough to turn something bad into something good. Rock on. Jddphd 01:49, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks man! That's so cool! Dude, you totally ROCK! – Dreadstar 02:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any suggestions?[edit]

I saw your comment on the RFM talk page (now rejected). I know you aren't interested in being directly involved, but I'm very frustrated with this and you seem to be interested enough that perhaps you can give me some words of wisdom. I try and go through proper avenues, cite policy and guideline, and have for the most part, tried to be civil with these people. At times, I have intentionally been moderately "uncivil" because I'm spending all my time trying to get them to discuss matters and being attacked personally by all these people. I have spent soooo much time jumping through hoops to get things moving a long and nothing is working. For now, the template is locked, but I just don't know what to do. Even when they don't have a problem (my moving of the position related articles), they change their views after the discussion has taken place. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  06:40, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what to say to you Juan. The only advice I have left for you is to either find another mediator (an informal one) or to step back and take a look at the situation. If you're the only holdout, maybe you need to rethink your position. Nobody else seems to have the same objections. I recognize that Chris has not been the easiest person to deal with either, and he edits quickly. You need to figure out whether it's worth it though. You may want to think about working on something else too. Jddphd 06:54, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually, many people have disagreed with him. They just don't have fortitude to deal with him (and that's not necessarily a bad thing). His main supporter is his buddy (by their own admission) and a recent editor who was directed to the conversation by him. I digress, all this is immaterial. These people exist in droves on here and it seems that no matter how many times I ask for help through DR, I get hung out to dry. I try to adhere to guidelines and policies and it doesn't do one bit of good. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  07:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hope you understand, that is in no way directed at you. I was just simply just pointing out some stuff. Be well and thanks for trying. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  07:06, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Saying many people he disagreed with me doesn't make it true. There's simply no evidence that many people disagree (and by many, I mean two). The only one I've seen is "him".►Chris Nelson 11:33, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:UAA[edit]

Hello Jddphd.

Just a note: Please have a look into the block log before you report a user to WP:UAA—they have all been blocked yet. By the way, they have been reported by bots before. :) Greetings, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:39, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Hexer. I will check next time. Jddphd 17:06, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration case question[edit]

There's no real required level of participation in an ArbCom case, so you're welcome to participate as much or as little as you like. If you become aware of ongoing issues or previous ones not entered into evidence, you can of course add those, and everyone's welcome to make suggestions and comments on the Workshop page if desired. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:23, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, thanks for copying Chrisjnelson's comment over for me. My damned router's been acting up, replaced it today and hopefully that'll fix it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:46, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
