Edit summary communication and burden[edit]

Hi ErrorDestroyer,

Perhaps you weren't aware, but a very long edit summary like "To the one particular editor who seems convinced that "Smash 4" must not be stated anywhere on this page, I counter that it is a very common name which is unique among the Smash games in that it is not an acronym, and it therefore seems highly likely to me that someone unfamiliar with the game coming here from the Smash 4 redirect might be confused without clarification. Let's keep the first sentence how it was for many years. If you take issue with this, the talk page awaits." is WP:SUMMARYNO. Keep it brief, your own personal analysis is not needed. Furthermore, "to the one particular editor"? That would be me. You were apparently aware there was one particular editor, but weren't up to address me directly somehow? Basic civil thing is to mention people by name.

Now, the WP:BURDEN is on you to show it is necessary, I don't have to start a discussion to show it isn't. And in the meantime, it shouldn't be up there.WP:LONGTIME isn't a reason either. If you wish to discuss the matter of including the nickname or shorthand of the game, we can do so on the talk page. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 12:08, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I concede that I should have been more diplomatic and realize that edit summaries like this aren't good policy but had hoped that my revert would fly under the radar so that a talk page discussion could be avoided; seeing as you've been content to engage in edit warring with multiple users rather than work proactively towards a resolution of this issue, my hopes for a productive discussion there aren't high. Since it's come to this point I've started one, so let's take the discussion there. ErrorDestroyer (talk) 18:29, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

December 2023[edit]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Whittier, Alaska. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. If Whittier is the "wettest" place in the United States, you will need to add a reliable source supporting this. Otherwise, you are adding original research, which is not permitted. Thank you for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:24, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did at Whittier, Alaska, you may be blocked from editing. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:53, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're the one being disruptive here. Even if you don't think it's common knowledge that 197 inches of precipitation is a lot, the sentence's second link comments on the snow accumulation and number of rainy days in a year. If I made a mistake it was to not put that link earlier in the sentence, and as of just now I have fixed this. If you still want to take issue with my mentioning of the NOAA precipitation total in this context (I think including this info here is quite appropriate) please act in good faith and remove just that info instead of reverting my entire edit.
