User:DocFreeman24, I may have more next week as I'm getting back into it. :) BOZ (talk) 02:43, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh good! Glad to hear that! I'm tied up with IRL matters the next few weeks but will try to pitch in as I'm able! DocFreeman24 (talk) 14:29, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I will add them here as I create them and you add the covers whenever you get the chance. :) BOZ (talk) 16:40, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just one more for this week, whenever you are able to start back up: Pi-balled. BOZ (talk) 19:27, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DocFreeman24, a problem I've just noticed; all of the covers you're uploading seem to be being upscaled to be bigger by DatBot after you upload them, which is a problem as it makes them horribly blurry, with visible artifacts in some of them. Can you go back through the covers you've uploaded and replace the DatBot-modified versions with either the file you originally uploaded, or downscale the full-size images closer to the size the bot changed them to? Waxworker (talk) 00:23, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I've uploaded thousands of covers at this point. If DatBot is doing something that is causing this issue, please talk to the person who operates that bot about this. Re-uploading the images myself, even if I was able to do that, would also cause issues because they are non-free images and need to be scaled down after being uploaded. But please forgive me if I am not correctly understanding the issue. DocFreeman24 (talk) 02:47, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The images that have this issue, Quest Adventure, and (previously) Supercross Circuit for example, seem to have been uploaded with the 'Non-free reduce' template pre-added to images that are already much smaller than they need to be. Are you downscaling the images yourself before asking DatBot to do so, or are these niche cases where the source image was this small to begin with? Also, in addendum to my messaging you about this, I'm contacting the bot operator. If you're unable to go through the affected covers and fix them, would you take issue with me doing it? Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 06:15, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A very serious issue I stumbled across while going through your edit history to look for affected images; while the DatBot issue seems to not affect too many of your uploads as they're generally larger than these few examples that were affected, you seem to have uploaded some images that aren't cover art for the game at all. This appears to be cropped from this image which was the third result on Google for 'Strike Fighters 2'. This evidently isn't official art, and has the Windows 10 logo in the background, despite the game being released in 2008. Can you elaborate on this? Waxworker (talk) 06:59, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for notifying me about this, it's a good faith mistake. As you've probably seen from the other comments on my talk page, I occasionally make mistakes when uploading covers. Out of the ~2,000 or so covers I've uploaded so far, I think I've had people flag perhaps 3-4 for me as being the wrong ones. Like all editors, I use my best judgment but definitely make mistakes like anyone else. So please feel free to flag any that you think are the wrong ones. I definitely have no objection to deleting them if they're not right. DocFreeman24 (talk) 23:14, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, if that's the issue, then I'm happy to not add the non-free reduce tag for small scale images. I've been adding it by default as my (perhaps incorrect) understanding is that that the bots will simply delete the tag if it's not needed. But if it's causing issues then I'll stop adding it unless it's necessary. It just streamlines my process in uploading them. DocFreeman24 (talk) 23:10, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for addressing the issues raised. I got a response from the operator of DatBot here, so once that's remedied you could probably continue adding the template to all your uploads. Waxworker (talk) 01:47, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, these are done now! Couldn't find one for In Harms Way for some reason, but was able to track down the others! DocFreeman24 (talk) 03:26, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. :) Today, I started Piromania as well. BOZ (talk) 18:29, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done for Presumed Guilty and MacArthur's War! No dice for Sniper! I'm not sure if there will be a good "cover" for that game since it was on CompuServe which I think may have distributed games either over their service or in some format that didn't lend itself to formal box art. But that's speculation as I was pretty young at that time and my memory is a little foggy... DocFreeman24 (talk) 01:33, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done for Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0 but Not done for Midway: The Battle that Doomed Japan because I couldn't find that one, sorry! A lot of book covers with that title but not game covers as far as I can tell... DocFreeman24 (talk) 05:16, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Either way works for me, whatever you prefer! I'm probably going to finish my second pass through the backlog and then re-assess what I'm working on. I'm currently debating between trying to "zero out" the backlog by somehow marking any remaining entries with some indicator that there just isn't an appropriate cover or at least it's not worth looking vs. moving on to the screenshots backlog (which, oof, will be a lot of work). I may post to the VG project talk page to get input and suggestions, we'll see. I like having a semi-"mindless" project that I can work on before bed/while watching TV/etc. DocFreeman24 (talk) 17:40, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
New articles may be a bit sporadic for a while. Meanwhile, do you have anything for Namco Museum Volume 2? BOZ (talk) 10:24, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You know I do! Done! Come back any time! DocFreeman24 (talk) 01:21, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done! I was amused that someone made a game under almost exactly the same name within a year or two! DocFreeman24 (talk) 15:04, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. :) I'm sure that kind of thing happens from time to time - intentionally or otherwise. In this case, these seem to be two very different games. BOZ (talk) 17:00, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome to the party! All of these are Done except for The 10th Planet which was never released and there doesn't seem to be a great "cover" for it that I could find. I saw some logos, but not sure if those are "real" or just fan creations.
Come by anytime, I'm always happy to help track down covers! DocFreeman24 (talk) 01:20, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done! Sorry I missed this! It's been a busy month! DocFreeman24 (talk) 01:07, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, thanks for getting those. :) I'm not auto-patrolled anymore, so thanks for reviewing Free D.C! as well. BOZ (talk) 00:38, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Timur9008, Done except for Skip Barber, which I couldn't find. Boy, it's been a while since I've thought about the N-Gage....DocFreeman24 (talk) 15:21, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you use this? [2]Timur9008 (talk) 10:43 ,26 March 2022 (UTC)
Timur9008, Feel free to use that if you think it works. I personally try to stick to actual covers as much as possible (e.g., something that was on an actual box or at the top of a Steam listing, etc.). But I think there's a fair bit of play in the joints on what qualifies as a "cover".DocFreeman24 (talk) 15:21, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Got two out of three! No luck for Big Bang though, sorry! DocFreeman24 (talk) 01:27, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Close though - the Backgammon game is in the same series as the Go-Moku / Renju game, so maybe there is a different cover for it? BOZ (talk) 01:36, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Is this the same game? I can't tell given that that site says it came out in 1987. If it's not the same game then we're out of luck unfortunately! DocFreeman24 (talk) 00:04, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, FYI, I tried to follow the electronic references on that page and they didn't work for me, so I couldn't use them unfortunately. DocFreeman24 (talk) 00:05, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure but I will try to figure that out. BOZ (talk) 10:32, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First one is Done but no luck for the second one unfortunately! DocFreeman24 (talk) 15:10, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And one more game for this week, Wall Street Wizard. It may have a different name in the original German. BOZ (talk) 15:16, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I tried searching for that name and "Wall Street Zauberer", but couldn't find anything. Sorry! You've got some deep cuts this week! DocFreeman24 (talk) 15:46, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's a good "cover" for MMOs like this one that were really just released online. I found this if you really want to put something on there for a cover. But it's not great haha. DocFreeman24 (talk) 18:02, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking either way :) Timur9008 (talk) 21:13 ,7 May 2022 (UTC)
Done, though note that the cover doesn't match the title correctly because I could only find the cover for the 1996 re-release. I believe it's the same game though! DocFreeman24 (talk) 05:24, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done, and wow I can't believe that page had been a redirect for so long! Very fond memories of that one! DocFreeman24 (talk) 05:27, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And User:DocFreeman24, one final one for now, Tetris Classic. :) And with that, I am taking a break from video game articles for at least a few months. :) I have a big mess to clean up and focus on, so that is what I will be doing before I create any more new articles like these. :) BOZ (talk) 16:01, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ya'll have been busy! All done except for Galactic Frontiers and Magnetic Scrolls since it seems like those might get merged or deleted. Good luck with everything! DocFreeman24 (talk) 23:49, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done! Believe it or not, despite not including a "2" on the cover, I actually think that's the right cover based on the reverse side of the box... DocFreeman24 (talk) 05:33, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hah, weird. :) BOZ (talk) 17:42, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done for Ultimate Board Game Collection but unfortunately wasn't able to find anything for Deathground! DocFreeman24 (talk) 06:41, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I'm glad you were even able to get one! :) Thanks! BOZ (talk) 06:45, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
