notice[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add ((NoACEMM)) to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:51, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

December 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm ResolutionsPerMinute. I noticed that you recently removed content from Ms. Jackson without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ResPM (T🔈🎵C) 00:46, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Rock music, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 03:52, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I wrote down a reason. It must have not went through. I apologize for any inconvenience. Ded Meem (talk) 14:52, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Your edit summary was "Deleted a line that was previously mentioned", but that's not accurate. The preceding phrase is "The 2010s saw a slow decline in rock music's mainstream popularity and cultural relevancy, with hip hop surpassing it as the most popular genre in the United States." The phrase you removed is "rock was the most popular music genre in the United States and much of the Western world from the 1950s to the late 2010s." The two phrases are not identical. You removed information that isn't in the preceding phrase. The phrase might need to be tweaked, but not removed completely as you did. Sundayclose (talk) 15:47, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That was not the phrase in correlation my to my summary, but I feel that it is futile to discuss it further. I will not make any more changes. Have a good day, or night. Ded Meem (talk) 23:12, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did at Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd album), you may be blocked from editing. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:53, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Information icon Hi Ded Meem! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Pop-punk that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 23:49, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's not misspelled.[edit]

You seem to have ignored or not seen my original talk page message on the article. Please revert your move of pop-punk. The original reason to moving to the hyphenated title takes precedence over all other reasons that have been provided. dannymusiceditor oops 19:04, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Second notice: Minor edits[edit]

This is a reminder to read every word of WP:MINOR before making any more edits. Page moves are not minor edits. Nor is this edit. Since you don't seem to fully understand the problem here, your best bet is to never mark an edit as minor; you'll never go wrong by doing that. If there's something about minor edits that you don't understand, ask right here, right now. Sundayclose (talk) 00:48, 12 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Ded Meem! Your additions to Nirvana (band) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 15:58, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

February 2023[edit]

Hyphens in genres[edit]

Generally, the hyphen is for adjectival usage only, for instance "the pop-punk band" has a hyphen, but "the band has been called pop punk" without a hyphen. The first version has pop-punk as an adjective describing the band, the second version has pop punk as a noun. Binksternet (talk) 16:38, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tango in the Night[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Tango in the Night. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. I have already reverted you on this once, so now you are edit warring. The markup you are using is not appropriate, so please stop your disruptive edits Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:00, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for September 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Strokes, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indie. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:56, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tango in the Night[edit]

Hi @Ded Meem, you seem to insist on adding an improperly formatted bullet point on the Tango in the Night page. I've reverted you numerous times, partly for the reason that what you're adding is not a proper list-forming bullet point, and partly because a pipe is preferred. Please stop repeatedly making these edits, as they are becoming disruptive. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 07:34, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It just looks bad in my opinion, since nearly all other album articles have the genres separated by a bullet point. But whatever floats your boat. I’ll stop with the edits. Ded Meem (talk) 14:22, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No, not nearly all other album articles (I've edited enough of those to know), and even if it looks bad to you, that's not a reason to use inappropriate punctuation. Cheers. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 16:07, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
idk if we’re talking about the same shit here but I apologize nevertheless. Have a nice day Ded Meem (talk) 16:14, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistently making disruptive edits. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: ((unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~)).  Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:47, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You have been warned about disruptive editing several times in the past, but I see you are still generating complaints. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:49, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I apologize for not adding more clarity to my edits. My intention is always to try and make whatever small improvements to articles I see fit, never to vandalize or worsen them, but sometimes I’m lazy as fuck and do not make the small effort to provide clarification as to what I did. Thank you for your work in ensuring Wikipedia’s reliability. Ded Meem (talk) 04:23, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page Born to Run has an edit summary that appears to be inadequate, inaccurate, or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits. Jesus, who wrote parts of this article?
