Hi Bill, I read your comment on John's Talk Page. You are right that apologies can go a long way, in fact an apology was what allowed John to successfully appeal his block last time he was rude to another editor. It will be hard for you to verify that statement because he deleted his talk page archives. I don't think he's coming back. Tarage, another user who rightfully condemned my actions in February of 2018, also quit Wikipedia due to a dispute. He once tried to edit logged-off, and was indef-blocked for it. I apologized to John for my actions back then, and since I earned the Civility Barnstar for it, I find it appropriate to bestow it upon you.

While your efforts were probably futile, I must commend your attempt to bring John back. Caleb M1 (talk) 03:15, 21 September 2020 (UTC) |
Should we remove the signpost message from Johns talk page now that it is blanked? If so, How do we do it? If not, why not? Caleb M1 (talk) 22:59, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

Here's my argument about MRA not being a "segregation academy." The school never denied black students; they just don't allow hairstyles like cornrows. I honestly don't know why but MRA was never a segregation academy. They had a non-discrimination policy since the beginning. Thanks! 50.86.22.66 (talk) 14:28, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
Hello BillHPike,
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

for all pages relating to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes). The effectiveness of the discretionary sanctions can be evaluated on the request by any editor after March 1, 2021 (or sooner if for a good reason).
Please be advised that there is no consensus to seek - the citation specifically quotes the Principal of the school at that time as saying it was not started as a segregation academy, and the yearbooks of that era show minority students. Prima facie - the original page was factually inaccurate, and through a reading of the citation provided, easily refuted.
There are images from the 1974 yearbook showing a sampling of minority students in attendance. Here is a link- https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.244108813573232&type=3
In reviewing the pages from the yearbook, it appears 4 out of 40 students shown were minority - a little below the national demographic ratio but more than in Tampa at the time. The superlatives, where kids vote on who is what through mostly a popularity contest, shows 2 minority students out of 16. That's 12.5% of those receiving votes - equivalent to the national minority population at the time and more than what was in the City of Tampa. How do minority students attend a segregation academy??? The article cited quotes the Principal, and the data refutes it. That's not consensus, it is fact.
If I was that interested in the Wikipedia process I would do more research for whomever did it incorrectly the first time, but I do not have that much interest. My edits improved the page, and provided much greater clarity of information, using the school's website and the existing citations that were already there. It would have been beneficial to the public. But others can worry about the faulty page info at this point. The page should be corrected, it is wrong, but not by me.
Thank you for pointing out to not remove existing info from a Wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FWRanger (talk • contribs) 16:52, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
This is a terribly thin article...someone added that it is a seg academy, without providing a source. I'm sure it is, but I don't have a source. Thought you might be able to find one, if you had the time. I just don't have a lot of time these days! Hope you are doing well...Jacona (talk) 02:16, 24 January 2021 (UTC

Good afternoon.
My apologies, I hope you are doing well. No censorship was intended, however Thomas Heyward Academy is not a segregation academy, as evidenced by yearbook photos, handbook standards, public documents regarding the founding, and finally (and perhaps most importantly) reservation of tax-exempt status as an independent educational institution (therefore, de facto, NOT being a segregation academy, per the standards on the “segregation academy” page). Thanks!
