Welcome!
Hello Asmaloney, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Fawcett5 16:20, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:
To do this, post the text ((unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here))
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text((unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~))
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:41, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Asmaloney (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Hmmm... my username is not a business - it's my name. I'm not promoting any consumer products. If this related to my recent ACT-R edit, I did point at my open source project because it's useful for people exploring ACT-R modelling. It's an academic project, not a consumer product. Blocking people without a history of abuse for one edit without a discussion seems harsh.
Decline reason:
Unless I've missed something, I think your username is okay. However, it is a clear conflict of interest for you to link to your open source project. It doesn't matter if it is commerical or academic in nature. You will need to tell us how your future edits will be consistent with the conflict of interest policy. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 19:24, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the ((unblock)) template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
OK - great community interaction! Very welcoming. Permanent block for one edit without any warning. Really makes people want to participate.
Have fun with your wiki-fiddles.
Nah - if this the way you (wiki-people) interact with people trying to contribute in earnest, I don't want to be a part of that kind of community. Have fun.
