Classification of Vehicle Routing Problems

This taxonomy was created in Bodin and Goldin (1981). Bodin and Golden outline the following categories for vehicle routing problems.

• hierarchical chinese postman problem and the downhill plowing problem with precedence DPPP where streets must be plowed and the snow removed before the vehicles can deadhead over the street)

Arc routing problems are concerned with the demands on the arcs.

Vehicle routing problems include demands on the arcs and nodes.
