Barrett Kerschbaum was born to Todd and Mary Kerschbaum in the Woodlands, Texas. As a toddler, Barrett was very adventurous and enjoyed participating in risky events. Barrett played hockey for the Madison Patriots at the age of 3. He excelled at a very rapid pace, setting a record with 5 goals in his very first game. [5] Hockey was not for Barrett. He desired to do something more with his life. At the age of 15, Barrett began to kayak at the Southern Nevada Paddling Club (SNPC) [6]
Barrett received a full athletic scholarship to play football at Penn State University; however, Barrett passed on the offer. After a successful freshman year at Penn State, Barrett Kerschbaum dropped out of college to travel the world with Aids Awareness Group (AAG) . His ability to cooperate with those of many third world countries opened the door for success.
While in Wales on a mission with the AAG, Barrett was introduced to Bog Snorkelling. Later that year he participated in Northern Ireland Bog Snorkelling Championship, taking first place. His ability to "sling" his way through the bog earned him the nickname "slinger." Barrett currently resides with his wife Missy and son Tommy.
