Jenn Bailey (born 1965) is an American writer of children's books and editor. Her book, A Friend For Henry, won a Schneider Family Book Award Honor.

Career

Jenn Bailey knew she wanted to be a writer from a very young age. Her first story, written in 2nd grade, told the story of a bat on Halloween night.[1]

Bailey's first children's picture book, "A Friend For Henry", won an American Library Association award for it's theme of inclusivity for children with neurodiversity. She has said the character of Henry is based on her second son, Harris, whom she watched navigate similar situations when he was young.[2][3]

Personal life

Bailey lived in Rhode Island growing up, and currently lives in Kansas City with her husband and three sons.[1] She graduated from the Vermont College of Fine Arts with a MFA.[1]
