Geoff Huston, APNIC September 2011 IPv4 address exhaustion for the IANA pool The IANA pool of Internet Protocol version 4 addresses will be depleted. From this day on, IPv6 is mandatory for new internet connections. [1]
Alain F. Carpentier, leading heart transplant specialist at AATS 2013 A total artificial heart will be ready as an alternative transplant. On October 27, 2008, French professor and leading heart transplant specialist Alain F. Carpentier announced that a fully implantable artificial heart will be ready for clinical trial by 2011 and for alternative transplant in 2013. It was developed and will be manufactured by him, Biomedical firm Carmat, and venture capital firm Truffle. The prototype uses electronic sensors and is made from chemically treated animal tissues, called "biomaterials", or a "pseudo-skin" of biosynthetic, microporous materials. Another US team with a prototype called 2005 MagScrew Total Artificial Heart, including Japan and South Korea researchers are racing to produce similar projects. [2][3][4]
Michael J. Laine, LiftPort Group 2014 First operational space elevator A literal elevator into space, most likely constructed using nanotubes and connected to a mobile seagoing platform and a counterweight orbiting in space. With a space elevator materials might be sent into orbit at a fraction of the current cost. [5][6]
Michael Griffin, NASA 2037 Estimated launch of the first manned mission to Mars In 2007, the then NASA Administrator, hinted that NASA may be able to launch a human mission to Mars. [7]
